Do you have any animal print in your home decor?

    Question:
Animal Print - thumbs up/thumbs down?

    Choices:
Thumbs up - it is all over my house.
Thumbs up - I have an accent or two.
Thumbs down - Maybe a shirt, but not a house.
Thumbs down - animal prints belong on animals.

Well, I said it's all over my house, but it's mostly in my closet. Wink I have lots of clothes with animal prints and only a couple in my home decor but serious plans for more.

Animal prints have been used in home decor since cave-man days, and in more modern times they were popular with the Victorians and continue to be. The interesting thing about animal prints is that they are used in many different styles of decor - formal and informal styles, contemporary, traditional, transitional, French, Italian, English cottage, eclectic.

Never overly trendy and only considered tacky by those who dislike them. Wow, could that be the secret of trendy vs. tacky? Big Grin If one likes it it's trendy and if one dislikes it, it's tacky.

I love animal prints. I have animal print fake fur pillows, and they make my apartment look so cozy.

Sorry, animal prints just have never done a thing for me. I don't care for it in decorating and I don't care for it in purses/coats.

Love it, love it, love it!

    I agree with Joyluck's definition of trendy/tacky.

Brilliant joyluck! The only difference for me is that I don't care for trendy either. Big Grin In my mind, trendy is fad-dish. It's liking what you like because everyone likes it. I'll sometimes go out of my way to avoid something I may otherwise like just because it's the new hot thing to have.

Trends will come and go, but my own personal style will always make me happy.

Animal prints are not for me but sometimes when I see someone else wearing a something with an animal print, I think it looks nice if it's not overdone.

I've sometimes thot that exact thing but if I really like it I'll get it anyhow. I'll likely still have it and use it long after it's no longer trendy tho! Big Grin

doormat, I should have had you around last week to advise me when I inadvertently wore a leopard print blouse with my jacket with leopard print furry lining, and a leopard print scarf. Roll Eyes When I realized I took off the scarf! I need to look in the mirror before going out obviously! Big Grin

to me, the very definition of tacky is animal print in clothing or home furnishing. It makes me think of a scrawny cartoon woman with huge harlequin glasses and a cigarette holder with a poodle in her purse...

a little goes a long way. It takes skill and a little chutzpah to pull it off, but if done right, can look amazing
