The latest round of fabrics from both American and English companies have been showing solids and patterns in very "Lily Pulitzer" style colors combos like pink & green, turquoise& white, yellow & cobalt.Very 1980's preppy. What do you think?
I had to look up "Lily Pulitzer" (I must admit I don't have your knowledge, Charles), and I think the colors are lovely! I would personally have difficulty working them into my neutral home, but I'd love to wear them.
I think it's interesting that decor is taking a bolder turn. I've heard that we all go beige when the economy is poor. Maybe things are looking up!This message has been edited. Last edited by: Annett,
Unfortunately, I am old enough to remember the original Lily Pulitzer and her take on the "shift dress" popularized by Jackie Kennedy.
The buoyant Palm Beach colors and patterns used by Lily P. were adopted by "preppies" in the 80s, but not so much in NYC, where the color black reigned. The fad didn't last long.
Those juicy colors may be fun for younger folks who are just discovering Lily Pulitzer, but to my older, jaded eyes they remind me of young, wealthy matrons from the 60s who spent their days lunching, playing tennis and hanging out in the country club, while ogling the cabana boys.
