I stopped using candles with wicks years ago (except for Bday cakes). Now my windows are not smoked up on the inside requiring frequent cleaning. And yes they were soy candles too, they all smoke. I now use some battery operated wax candles, and they have no fire danger as well as a timer that turns them on and off. Maybe that would be a better venue for you.
