So, STILL waiting to hear from the bank on the house we're trying to buy. We have looked at other houses, and both our realtor and I search MLS listings (as well as some of the private new developments), and have not seen anything that matches the one we're trying to buy. So we sit..... We have been in a VRBO, and are moving Wednesday to location near the Gulf (figured, why not...), and it's a pretty easy ride back to here - so we're exploring a bit more of Florida. My furniture is still being held in Virginia - I just can't WAIT to get into a house... With the one we found (and I have to give my realtor credit for this - because I didn't want to really look at it), we just fell in love the minute we walked in. Every time I go back in, that good feeling remains. We have all our appendages crossed and hope that sometime in my lifetime we find out that the bank approves the sale... . Short sales are NOT for sissies..... :O. Also, REALLY glad we rented very close to our potential house - have already made some friends in the town, found good grocery stores, hair dresser (well, she's in Tampa), restaurants, etc. While it may rain all the time here - I absolutely LOVE this little town, and it is absolutely where we want to be.....
Rain? How weird. We have not had much rain since July. You are only about 1 hour drive away from here and the rain amount is not the same. I hope you are moved in and settled soon. I am glad you have already made friends. That can be a problem here because of the amount of snow birds.Good luck with the rest of your move!

My sister lives an hour from me, and it's very dry there. Around here? Wet, wet, wet - lakes are over flowing, and critters are abundant. Still love it - and can't WAIT to be able to get some landscaping done. I've already lined up my landscape designer guy, and have a plant source lined up. We've picked out the trees I want, and can't wait to get started!!! With the rain we've had -- certainly understand why there are so many lakes around this part of Florida . Very cool place - just need a permanent address...
We are also living in a rental condo...waiting for a house to be built and the permit-approval process is taking a while; however, we were told that would be the case...hard to understand tho when there aren't many new-builds!
As for now, we are truly enjoying the 'down time' after being on the market over a year and having the first offer just melt away. Once we do get moved in to our new place it will be vaca central for everyone we know...ha!!!!
BTW, we are having lots of rain over here on the east side of FL...t-storms everyday for the last two weeks!

No - no news yet . We're staying in Dunedin, which is an adorable little town, but we have also had tons of rain (in fact, it's POURING right now)... We're trying to stay positive and I've postponed the delivery of my furniture again since I just don't know any more... . Realtors are all working hard, but the bank just keeps dragging.... and if it's located in Tampa, I'm sure that next week nothing will happen. Maybe they'll feel the need to work extra hard this week to clear things up!!!
Deb, stay safe over there from ISAAC. Over here on the Atlantic side, we are just expecting lots of rain and maybe some wind. We're in the upper third of the state.

We are fine here in Sarasota. Lots of rain and enough wind to tear the top screening on Lanaii. The storm is over now I think, and we are glad. The screening will not be covered by Citizens H.O Ins. as that was the latest hit to our homeowners insurance. That letter from Citizens came after we signed for another year with that Government insurance co. We pay a lot of money for our ins. but the H.O Ins. is the biggest rip off in FL.Stay safe everyone. DebinFl, keep the faith. Homes in our area are now selling for about $250,000 again.

We actually got less rain than usual (DOES rain alot in Central Florida), so are doing fine. However, my cousin and Aunt are near New Orleans and in Gulfport - NOT good.... ..... This storm is slow - and big.....
Hard rain during the night before last.. spurts of the same throughout the day yesterday... today was beautiful Florida day.. Local storms have been worse. Tampa Bay dodged a bullet, as the further it moved up the west coast of Fla. it also moved out to the west into the Gulf.
Tides were up, but not over the seawall.
However, there have been Hurricane times I have chased a few fiesty Blue crab and critters around the yard trying toss back into the bay. Aiy yi yi..however best storm story was finding a little seahorse in my crab trap holding on for dear life..
Charlie was the highest water...ever..very eery. This message has been edited. Last edited by: real estate lady,
