We were shown a house in late November by the listing agent. We very much liked this house but we will never NEVER deal with this woman again. No matter how much we like this house. To say that she was unprofessional is putting it mildly. She may have been drinking. For example, soon after we entered the house (after waiting entrance while she chatted on the phone with her daughter for at least 4 minutes), I noticed that the house had many built-ins and asked if the owner was interested in woodworking. To this she replied "that is none of your business. I refuse to divulge any information about my client That information is confidential.." It went on from there and shortly, my husband and I left. We would like to make an offer on this house but will not go through this woman. Is there any way we can present an offer without dealing with her? We don't know how long she has the listing. But, even if she lost the listing soon are there timeframes that we must adhere to? Thanks Liz

No - I would not call her broker and file a complaint at this time - if you want that home --that may only work against you and she, as the listing agent, may not give you buyers' agent the cooperation to get the best deal.
Should you want to call her broker and file a complaint the time to do it is after you close on the property.
I wouldn't file a complaint, just put in your offer and keep it simple. There is no need in getting someone in trouble for the simple fact that she answered your question. She might not know that you are sensitive or your personality. Realtors can't tell too much info on their clients,b/c it is none of the buyer's business. If she was drinking, however, after you submit your offer, and it is excepted, call her broker and complain. that way she doesn't show up to the closing drunk. lol
First of all, get yourself a buyer's agent. If that agent tells you her client is the seller, she's not working for you and will only want to get the best deal for them. Yes, you should contact her broker. An agent like that does not make money for that broker and does not help their reputation. That broker wants to close the sale. I was in the business for 20 years so I am knowledgable.
This seems to be identical to an earlier post. Did you post earlier on this same topic and it got deleted for whatever reason (TBTB) or did you just decide to re-post?
I answered your earlier post; I am not going to take to time to re-post if this is just the same question and you are hoping for different responses. Post back and let us know...
I will have to add that asking questions about the owner's hobbies or profession, is inappropriate when viewing a house. I realize that possibly you were just trying to make small talk.
Now, the listing agent could have been a bit more tactful in her reply. However, not answering questions about the owner, is the right thing for any listing agent to do.

Idaho Resident, I believe the OP posted this thread minutes before she posted the thread you answered to. This thread was Posted Feb 18, 2008 06:13 PM, but on Feb 18, 2008 07:47 PM she started the thread "former listing agent showed home", writing that it was "A follow up to my recent question "want to make an offer on a house""; I believe that was the one you answered to
