We have an accepted offer!! Actually, both showings (1 and 2 days after Christmas) resulted in an offer. Now, I just hope the inspection goes well. I will feel better once the closing is over with. I never ever would have thought that we would sell our home in December, especially right after Christmas. I guess what they say about the December real estate market is true- Not many showings, but very serious buyers ready to make an offer on the right house. For those of you reading my earlier post, we did not have to do new countertops since this couple looked at the house before we decided to offer that to lookers.

Congratulations! I remember your post about the countertops, and there was something else - what was it? But you got a good offer without changing those things or offering an allowance! That's great! Best wishes through the inspection and the the rest of the transaction. I'm sure it will all go just fine for you.

Just hand over the Blue Bell and no one get's hurt, seeeeee?

To the poster that asked what my other posting was (besides the countertops), I had posted just a week or two ago about if our agent would drop us b/c we didn't lower the price as he wanted us to do- SO glad we didn't!

I'm so excited; I have a feeling there will be quite a few more homes selling as we start the new year.

How wonderful! It does happen! We made an offer on a house Xmas Eve and it was accepted. We put our house on the market the day after Christmas and it sold in one day for 98% of our full asking price. We close in 6 weeks. Plenty of packing to do! May your new year be blessed with good health, old comforts and new joys.

Amy consider yourself blessed. I am in a similar situation with my Mom's home but to a higher degree of pressure. My mom is 80 and lives in FL (up here in SC now for holidays) 650 miles away. House on market for 8 months with only 20 showings. Just after Thanksgiving we had a couple do 3 visits, about 2 weeks ago we got an offer, lowball but an offer. Inspection happened a week ago and they are complaining about possible roof leak and it must be repaired. PROBLEM...we can't get a roofer to verify or quote and they want to close by the 21st! It can't be much more difficult, we are in our agent's hands now since we are so far away and unable to get down there for 1 more week. Best case is that we only get one roofer to quote and it will be a high price and all that cash will need to go into escrow.
I hope your inspection goes much better.
