I am currently under contract to buy my first home. The home is a new construction, 3 bed, 2 bath, 1445 sq ft. The builder has recently offered me a better deal on a home that he has recently completed (low price, closing cost). I have one issue, the only way to get to the master bedroom is through the kitchen. I don't really mind it so much, but when I try to resale the home is some years, I don't know if the house would be a hard sell becuase of it. What do you think? All opinions are greatly appreciated.

We passed on a great home about 4 years ago for the exact same reason - and I've never regretted it. Loved everything else about it.
When my kids are home from school, and hanging out in the kitchen late at night getting a snack, I don't want to be hearing them through my bedroom door. And that's not a problem you can change easily.
I felt it was an odd layout. Had it been a den/guest room, we might have still considered it, but NOT the master.
Go with your gut. Chances are, if this bothers you this much, then the same thing will happen down the road if you go to sell.

My home has the master off the kitchen...what was I thinking when I bought it??? While it's just me and no problem now, on down the road when I do sell, it will make the sale more difficult. Take everyone's advice and pass.
Our master bedroom is right off our kitchen and I don't mind one bit! It is an old farm house and after raising 2 teens, I still don't mind it. Guess it is all personal preference!
If there are alot of other homes on the street or in the development w/the same layout then it's not a problem if that house is the ONLY one w/the master off of the kitchen it could be a problem. The house I currently have has a cathedral ceiling master bedroom off of the kitchen I don't use it as a bedroom I use it as an office and I use one of the bedrooms upstairs as my room, all the other capes in my development have the same layout as mine so it's not a big deal because I'm not the only house w/the master off the kitchen, the majority of people in my development that have the cape style house also don't use this room as their master they for the most part use it as a family room.
