I just got married and am looking to buy a home. But I thought a bargain won't be worth much to me if I didn't make the right decisions around my purchase.... I think this article got me on right path... http://bit.ly/pghviU What do you think?
Anything else? Are there any other good sources you people have?
Us people? LOL. While your article has some basic advice seems it was written by a "greenhorn". All Realtors are not male. If a seller waits for a pre-approval (approval process) letter without a contract, that seller is getting bad advise----- waiting the wait to accomodate . May miss other buyers with pre-qual letters - ready willing and able.
The article's website is associated with Prudential Starck Realtors in Naperville, Missouri. May be a buyer/seller lead service... how are you associated with them?
If you compare what you'll learn from reading the posts here and reading that article, the article comes out a very poor second. Before DH and I started house-hunting, I visited the 3 buying/selling boards on an almost daily basis. Learned a lot from the various realtors, like REL, about a wide variety of topics. As a result, my buyer's agent loved me. I knew what was appropriate, I didn't waste HER time with nonsense and respected HER valuable opinion and attention.
I have to agree with REL. That article doesn't begin to cover what first time buyers ought to know and feels like the "carrot" to lead people to this particular realtor.
Also, I agree, there are several professionals on these boards like Real Estate Lady, with a wealth of knowledge, who have provided me with invaluable advice. This message has been edited. Last edited by: ellemint,
This is another very thinly veiled attempt at soliciting. This is there eal name. http://www.connectionsinrealestate.com/ There are ways to make web site addresses look like something different. Here is another addres for the same site: http://tinyurl.com/3utl9cd Sue the author of the article cited seems to run the web site. Please correct if I am wrong but I think you have been busted Sue.This message has been edited. Last edited by: happy 9,
The article looks ok, a little basic of course. Talk to your realtor and have them walk you through the most important parts. If you feel like you are being rushed into buying something, find a new agent. Remember to get a home inspection. :-)
A home is an investment. When you rent, you write your monthly check and that money is gone forever. But when you own your home, you can deduct the cost of your mortgage loan interest from your federal income taxes, and usually from your state taxes. This will save you a lot each year, because the interest you pay will make up most of your monthly payment for most of the years of your mortgage. You can also deduct the property taxes you pay as a homeowner. In addition, the value of your home may go up over the years. Finally, you'll enjoy having something that's all yours - a home where your own personal style will tell the world who you are.
Everyone wants to live in a dream house. Before buying a home figure out how much, you can afford. When you own your home, you can deduct the cost of your mortgage loan interest from your federal income taxes, and usually from your state taxes.
Good point.. while the buyer could very well qualify for a home higher in price, buyer should tell lender what payment is comfortable and work from there to determine sales price of search.
I actually just started a website for exactly what you're looking for. It's a website dedicated to young home buyers/owners. I'm always adding great free content. Check it out! www.younghomeownersguide.com
I know you think that you have been very clever BUT you are being just a bit too obvious with all of the "new" posters so, a word to the wise, knock it off.
Way too obvious and the rules are clear - no advertising - and that means you - including posting new threads geared to posters who are "hungry" for the words of wisdom you claim to have in your new web-site.
Maybe so, maybe not but please honor the rules here. NO ADVERTISING - do I need to repeat myself? I hope not or, next time, I will be clicking the report button....
sooo tired of BS. especially elemint types Especially those who prey on vulnerable. Local Govt offers FREEE semi annual classes.. even in my town of 45K.
REL, you've been contributing here for years, why now distraction = a giagantic photo? This message has been edited. Last edited by: tessa89,

tessa, the LARGE avatars happened when "the powers that be" "fixed" the board recently...again! That's also why our smileys don't work either! ((eye roll))
