Opinions please! I often bring in items when the seller has vacated or doesn't have enough to work with, and I've noticed that whenever I bring in red accessories for the kitchens (when I have a blank slate) the house seems to sell faster. Oddly, I don't see a lot of red accessories being used in the homes of sellers when they DO have stuff. Coincidence? What colors do you like to see (1) on kitchen walls and (2) as accessories in a kitchen? Thank you!
We inherited pleasant yellow walls (not SUNSHINE yellow). We have dark wood cabinets. We tend to have some darker green accents and neutral countertops - but I can see a pop (forgive the catch-phrase) of working in there. I have a few (red) vases that I keep trying to find a way to work into the room but haven't yet!
Actually - I had wanted for a while to put in accessories that were like the mosaic plates we saw when we were in the caribbean. I still wish I had picked some up (we went on an Anniversary cruise with some friends).
But that's just my 2 cents!

I personally tend to like lighter cabinets and walls. A creamy pale yellow or green with light to medium wood is a favorite. Seem to recall that accessories that blend the natural colors of common foods are often nice kitchen/dining colors to use. Reds(apples/peppers) Greens (apples/lettuce/celery)Yellows (squash/bananas/pears) etc. One rule states (stay away from blues)as there are very few blue foods other than blueberrys.
Sometimes choosing a favorite china pattern or kitchen towel/placemat color combo can help one make color choices one can live with and enjoy. We have Pfaltzgraff French Quarter stoneware and chose the country french colors, from that.

my kitchen is yellow. I like to have flexibility in my decorating and when i see granite countertops, i see solid colored painted walls(limited flexibility) My kitchen is the one room of the house that I like to use wallpaper in. Yes, I do know that I wouldn't market a house with wallpaper because it is definitely a personal choice item.
Color selection is personal. Colors in kitchen are usually those chosen from the home's color scheme. Although red is great for stimulating appetite, it may not be in one's color palette. Colors are also often chosen based on style and theme of home.
Our house was repainted when the sellers had a hard time moving it... it's all off white except for a sage green kitchen, and we loved it! It was the realtor's idea. (We had the same buyer's agent, as a fluke.)
It's still green. I probably wouldn't have chosen the color out of thin air but it was a good choice for helping us remember the house with the green kitchen. It was neither garish nor boring.
(Cabinets are white and counters are beige).

I once read that every room could stand a touch of yellow because it is such a happy color. For extra splashes of color in accessories, a little yellow or red are stimulating. Many go with such neutral colors, that adding a splash of warmth gets people excited.
