Father in law closed on the house that we are buying on contract from him. It doesn't even seem real yet, we can't get in until after 5p.m. Friday because the sellers are still moving out (they are relocating to Louisiana. All has gone exceptionally well. He told my kids today, "the only think I except from you is a clean room when I come to visit." There are have not been any strings except that we have to sell our current house (which I wanted to do anyway, and dh wanted to rent it out ) So that worked in my favor.
We will start stripping wallpaper & dh is going to stomp the ceilings on Saturday and Sunday and then Monday he'll start painting. He's a painting contractor so this stuff is a breeze. Thursday is when the U-Haul is scheduled for.
Anyway, I just wanted to update all of you. I'll be busy packing now for the next few days.

Congrats. Remember though, do not spend one night in the house until you have working smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors intalled and in working order.
I was so exited at my first home's closing, that I forgot to get the keys. I didn't realize it, until I got to the house. By then, everyone (attorneys, etc) had gone home (it was long after 5pm).
For my current home, the builder gave me a set of keys at the closing, and mentioned that since he had no idea who had copies, he replaced all the locks with new ones. When I got to the house, I found the keys I was given didn't work in the locks. When I looked thru the french doors, I saw the new locks all sitting on the kitchen counter, still in their boxes. So, I had the keys to the locks on the counter, but not the old locks still on the doors.

Have you sold your other home? I remember you saying something about putting it up for sale cheap since it needed so much work but don't remember if it sold or if you even have it on the market yet.
Good luck thou I bet you ccan't wait for that U-Haul tom.
