So- our buyers had to push back the closing date to Aug 15. A full month later than expected. (today would have originally been my last day here)
We were nervous that the sellers in Oregon would not want to push back the date as well. But even as we were working with them on moving the date back the relocation specialist was working on something as well. The problem was that we would need the equity from the sale of this home for the down payment and closing costs on the purchase. Since the closing date here had leap-frogged past the closing there, this would not work.
Well... my husband's new employer agreed to front us the money for closing- so we can still close on time (July 30) at the new place. We will pay back that money after closing here.
Amazing, right? Gotta say I didn't expect that! So I'll be headed out there for closing, then back here to finish things up. My husband will be living in an empty house there for two weeks.... but it is all working out.
Meanwhile, my daughter found a place to buy here- even with her limited budget. The furnace was totally shot (leaking carbon monoxide) and so there was some negotiation over paying for a new furnace, but they have worked that out. They only have the appraisal left. (fingers crossed)
With any luck, they will be closing on Aug 2- giving them time to fix things up there before moving in, and giving me the opportunity to be here to help them before I move.
It's all coming together!
Great news, tomatoqueen! Sounds like your dh is working for a great company, your dd has found her "first new home" and all is going well ~ yes, I know there are so many balls in the air to juggle BUT I hopeful for a good result all around! Let us know how it goes....
Wow, what a generous company your DH works for. So glad it's working out for you.
