Jonathan mistake??
I'm watching an episode of buying and selling with Robert and Marie. Jonathan said he could not remove a stripped screws on the handicap bars in the bathroom... it would have been simple o use an. easy-out to back the screws out rather than destroying the tile

Welcome to the HGTV message boards, Don! But think you should re-post this thread in the Fan Favorites board ~ this one is for real life buying and selling real estate issues so doubt that many will respond ~ sounds like a good question for those who watch this show! Cool

IR is correct about the wrong area for the topic. Unfortunately, this board is not actively moderated so your question will remain here.

About your question, I agree you should be able to remove most screws without resorting to major surgery.

I didn't see the episode in question so I'm not sure how badly the screws were stripped. In my very limited experience - I learned long ago that if you have a stripped Phillips screw - take an old phillips screw driver - pound it into the head of the screw with a hammer and you should be able to get enough grip to remove it.

I saw it, the screws were stripped moderately, I'd say. Jonny didn't help by grinding them repeatedly with his screw gun with a short bit at an angle instead of using an extension to hit them straight on. Five minutes with a dremel could have taken the heads off the screws. There's more than one way to skin a cat - but that cat doesn't know what he's doing

Another reason to go through the utility room to try and find the Dreml kit I bought years ago.
