Wonder how Linda will interpret this theme....does "new" mountain mean no bear skin rugs or beheaded animal trophies?!?! Big Grin

It sure will be interesting to see how Linda decorates with the "New" mountain theme. She always comes through with something wonderful.
I can really picture this house decorated for Christmas both inside and out. I can see a beautifully decorated tree with the lights on in view through all that glass.

Honestly I was just at Pottery Barn this week and they had alot of antlers, leather, fauxsheepskin throws abounding....made me think on the Dreamhome....I really liked these cool faux bark candles that had a flickering "flame"....did not love price...think they were $49 Eek But from a few feet away they looked so real with a little piece of fabric moving for the flame...

Hi Everybody! Hope you have all had a great summer.

I absolutely LOVE <3 this house. It's by far my fave. The floor plan is perfect. The location is perfect. The style is perfect.

I hope New Mountain means more NEW and less MOUNTAIN. I could definitely see sleek modern furniture with an industrial edge. With perhaps some stylized antlers (a la West Elm) or funky faux fur thrown in. Master bedroom with a pared down canopy like Room and Board or Crate and Barrel sells.

Can you tell this house is spot on my style and I have spent *years* "decorating" this sort of house in my dreams?

Linda usually tries to utilize the views for her color scheme....hope she did it during Spring or Summer and not winter or we shall have alot to clean up should a bear get all over our white things.... Big Grin.

I've been looking for this style for quite some time. It's nice to see companies finally bringing some pieces in to decorate with. Linda shouldn't have any difficulty getting them with/without the companies. Smile

Green Alice, I've like the birch around candles for quite sometime. I've been trying to get my FIL who lives in the area with many birch to send me some pieces for centerpieces. Those are gorgeous!

LOL Trish! That is one HUGE Black Bear....he must of mastered those bear proof garbage containers....and I thought I was mostly anxious about the grizzlies.... Roll Eyes !!!! If you google bear proofing you see lots of bears playing with containers....they still have to investigate it seems....wonder if the garbage spot will be on the 360?!?! Big Grin

Guess we need to enlist a bear possee on the perimeter....Cool Either that or be in denial because we are so enamored with the Dreamhome2014 itself.....stay in your happy spot...there are NO bears outside...(repeat as many times as necessary....Wink )

It is really growing on me too....my fav was always 2004 and currently I am FINALLY getting around to use that home as my inspiration on some current remodeling....goodness 10 years later.. Eek ..but as Linda used subtle victorian accents in that home, my spin has subtle lodge rustic/mountian elements....maybe this 2014DH will further inspire me to finish off the details. Smile Maybe it will be when DH2004 and DH2014 COLLIDE decor... Razz 360 we are ready and waiting...

I have seen So many "cabinesque" styles in MANY catalogs. Has this become the style that people are searching for? We received a catalog that has a quilt in it with embroidered PINE CONES in the design. I thought of how Linda likes to use the pinecones/is it acorns? I've hinted to hub that I like this one. Then, I see how many grayed pineboards are being used as backdrops of the photos for the furniture in another catalog. Seriously....what has caused this STYLE being promoted? Asking my hub his thoughts....he said it offers a sense of "vacation/getting away". I'm trying to hold onto our vacation memories. So, he may just have something.

As for bears....I kept looking for them when we were on vacation. I saw MANY deer, no bear. Silly me for being disappointed. LOL My hub and FIL saw a cub crossing the road. I 'heard' about it and was disappointed.

Mission Accomplished, Green Alice. Even got rid of the "E" word. Someone else will surely bring it up. lol

Tigers, lions, and BEARS, Oh MY! Wink

Yep let's adverstise the bear potential...but keep the coping strategies inhouse.... Razz Nothing interferes with a true MB dreamer's dream... Smile

I wonder how *this* New Mountain style differs from the new mountain style in the Stowe, Vt house.

There was lots about that house to love: kitchen! bunk room! how old and new/modern elements were combined!

Confused..

We really need a SPY to see what's going on.

In the lodge we stay in on summer vacations, I noticed the owner had designed one of the bunk rooms like that of VT in one of the cabins. I asked if she watched HGTV because this idea reminded me of it. She said she did, but didn't have as much time to do so. Anyway....there are MANY, many, MANY ideas available for this style.

I'm sure there's someone willing to be a SPY. Just don't be too obvious.

New Mountain Style must be so cutting edge that it's debut is with this home....definition to come....will be fun to try to pin down the criteria. Hoping it's not too bare and pared down....comfort and dreamy and absolutely NO bear references inside....although she does seem to plan whilst looking out the window...so if we DO see a bear motif ongoing...we know she spotted 'em. Keep eyes peeled for paw prints in the snow on the 360.... Big Grin.

Bear with me on this idea......Linda, maybe a set of those Bear slippers....to walk around the DH in to make others THINK a bear is nearby. It could be adult sized, there are people with a sense of humor. We're starting to get a freezing spell coming through our area. Those bear slippers are starting to sound wonderful.

PS...Green Alice, the song will go through my mind quite a few times today. Thanks.

Thanks for the heads up re: the blog. Don't normally go there...

Let's see....

1. coffee table top may be too obvious. That could be flooring or a wall beneath it. My money is on a wall sculpture. Maybe over the MBR fireplace.

2. definitely on the wall. Want to guess the dining room just because that seems like the kind of thing Linda would do in a DR

3. Oy...

4. Either the lavatory or Master bath tile

5. A seat around that fire pit that's supposed to be in the courtyard. Pix taken after a light dusting of snow.

Them's my guesses & I'm stickin' with 'em.

Found this image on Ballard Designs. Doesn't the Wood Serving Platter (in the foreground) remind you of the Top Left (#1) image?

ISTR from the construction pix, a pine tree in the front of the house was taken down. Wouldn't it be cool if a slice of that tree were turned into a serving platter?

JSB, LOVE the platter and servers made from the timber.

Today, I collected walnuts out in the "woods". If only hub knew how many 'other' items I wanted to haul home with us on our outdoor adventure...I probably wouldn't have been allowed to go.

I noticed the fresh Rosemary on one platter. We purchased a rosemary shrub for our holiday décor. It will also be used in cooking....thankfully, T Joes had them!
