Hi all,

I have a question about whether or not using autofill is considered automatic entry and would result in disqualification.

I do use HGTV's automatic fill option by entering just the last e-mail address used, but three different people enter on one computer, so we can only use it for one of them each day.

I don't imagine it would be a problem (and I hope not, because I've been doing it all this time) since each person is not exceeding the daily limit of entries and it's not like we're using some outside automated program. We go to the website each time. I just wanted to make sure.

I would be interested in the answer to this also, as my web browser uses auto-fill for entering e-mail addresses and such.

I had never considered that this may result in disqualified entries; I thought that most browsers do this as a matter of course.

Basically, I'm just asking if using your browser's autofill function to fill out the entry form is considered an automatic process--something that would disqualify the entry?

Just because the rules say: " Mechanically reproduced or hand-stamped entries or mailing labels or entries generated by script, macro or other automated or mechanical means and entries by any means which subvert the entry process will not be accepted."

It is very simple. The last person who entered that day on your computer would be the one that autofills the next day. So you just need to make sure that is the person who enters first the next day or no auto fill will work that day. Remember the quote "The last will be first". My husband and i have been doing it for years.

No that will not disqualify you as HGTV set it up that way to make the process easier for you Hope this helps you!

Probably not. I really doubt it at least. But I just thought I'd ask to see if someone knew for sure.

Thank you all for your responses! I think I'm just going to keep using it as I assume most people do when entering more than one person from one computer, and they couldn't disqualify us all.

I think I would stick to HGTV's autofill as they are the ones whho actually explained as I provided. Using something else "could" disqualify your entry and I would not want to take that chance.
