Is it me or is it not practical to have cushioned chairs outside. I am not going to be running outside every time it rains...They sell alot of them but up here in Iowa rain comes alot and they would get ruined .... I guess its your prefrence.. I notice on every HGTV home they have fancy cushioned chairs for outside

maybe they sell a product that would cover the chairs from rain - plastic ?it looks pretty with the cushions - there must be a way. chris

Hotels deal with it...put the cushions under cover at times of high moisture or dust. As for design and function, these fashion-ottos are Malibu moguls at heart. That's the design part. The function is you. Notice to Owners: Linda would love to think sooo much more about who cleans up, who fixes up, who pays for the amenities, but then she, along with the architect du jour, would find her/himself with so little to work with. Hire that hijo y hija de la familia, who is asking again for the (or a) car, needs money for the Prom, . Or put on that new apron, Senora? ---the been there done that shoeshine boy.

LOL! Tango you are just too funny! I know Sunbrella cushions are a little more money, but the ones we have outside still look new after two years. (except for a field mouse that chewed the corner of one cushion to get stuffing for it's nest) Whether You Think You Can Or You Think You Can't..... You're Right - Henry Ford

If there is a secret camera in our neighborhood, someone would definitely have had fun watching the movie when we got our last rain. Having experienced the rain and removal of cushions to the indoors to protect them, I decided to get one of those great covers for the furniture. Note for homeowners: covering a chair and putting cushions underneath, can and WILL create a SAIL effect. No, not a place to purchase at a discount, but an actual SAIL on the piece of furniture if NOT tied down. Our chair went across the deck. We heard a thud, then a second. We were sure trees were falling onto the roof from the wind. Instead....I had to go outside to retrieve cushions and the chair that flew onto the second landing. I was able to get the cushions, but the chair legs were caught within the ballisters. My thought was....C r eator was having a fine joke with me..and laughing for sure! I appreciate how the outdoor living space is protected by the sides of the home and the hill in the back. I can't see any Sailing experience for the outdoor furniture at the Green Home. We NOW have tied my exercise bands to the chair to avoid anymore flying furniture during strong winds. I will retrieve those bands when the weather cooperates. (Wonder if this is a good excuse for not getting that exercise routine in for the day?)

It always seemed like our cushioned chairs were either wet, dusty, bird droppings, tree droppings, etc. Plus they would blow if the wind was strong. We went to comfortably designed, metal, powder coated, mesh chairs with arms. Very comfortable, easy to hose off, dry in a few minutes, and they stay put even with gale force winds. The table is the same, no glass to clean before use. It does depend if your seating is covered with a roof or not and of course your common weather conditions, but I will take ease of use as a top priority.

I have had my outdoor furniture for a couple years and it still looks great. I do have a cover i can put on. Mine metal, tile, and the chairs some sort of sturdy mesh looking materail that can be sprayed right off. One of my umbrellas has taken to flying in a good wind. This message has been edited. Grafton, 'tis fanciful,---your posts? You Brits have an inordinate manner and I am talking post communications. I dare say even Gromit would be stymied and Gwendolyn have a headache. I think I need a slice of Montrechet. I am definitely adverse to English cheese. :>)

If you cover all the cushions and stack on top of each other....smelly later because of the mildew effect that starts when the sun shines on the plastic mountain of covered cushions that are of course, covered up! The answer, drag them in and out every night! html
