Doggy cam? Oh no, I dropped this tool and marred the floor (totally staged). Oh no, it's 23 1/2 inches. Hey look, Candice is walking the dog. Her friend likes squirrels. Even my wife no longer tries to defend this show from my mockery.
Totally agree Tom, but I'm thinking this is a network directive. Most of HGTV's design shows include bogus conflict and "human interest" personality driven incidentals. I blame it all on the Kardashians and the prevelence of reality T.V. It's a shame that a network which had integrity felt the need to sink to the lowest common denominator, instead of raising the bar.

I have 2 questions for the folks at HGTV; What happened to Candice Olson and Sanda (Riamato? sp) Two of the best people on your network and they are not there any more. Why? What happened? Also, enough all ready with "House Hunting and Selling London, etc" shows. Why show me things I can't afford or want? I don't care how the "other half" lives, not in this economy. I hardly watch HGTV in the evenings any more and I miss it! Shape up guys or change management not good shows.
I agree with all of what has been said! I don't watch anything on HGTV anymore. No Candice, no Me! Luckily I have on videotape episodes from the first season in which I recorded when FineLiving (now the Cooking Channel) ran the early episodes. I just wish that they had rerun the whole series. I also recorded episodes from '06-'08 while Paul, Edmond and Andrew were still there. I would love to have the episodes from '04-'05 I never liked the show after Paul, Edmond and Andrew left. I occasionally search the internet hoping to find someone who has recorded the entire series and is selling copies. But no luck yet! I do have "Divine Design Kitchens and Baths". But there are only 4 episodes on it plus the special on the making of DD Also a Bloopers segment. I pull all of these out and re-watch them often. "Candice Tells All" doesn't come close to DD. I sure do miss DD!
I think the drama and "surprise" makeovers started with the popularity of Trading Spaces. The TV people don't seem to realize because people like a certain show it doesn't mean they want all shows to be like it.
