So...I am working on a website for our house...we are just about ready to go on the market.
As usual I have gotten all caught up in this & now I am wondering if I am going "too far." I don't have anything ready to look at yet or I'd show y'all & see what you think BUT...
Before I go any further with it I wanted to get some input.
Our house has 13 rooms & I have at least one picture of each room. I included pictures also of the outside spaces such as the back yard, side patio, etc.
Right now I have a home page w/ the house information, floor plan, house "facts" etc. Then I have two pages of pictures, going thru the house "room by room." With each room I included a little "facts box" w/ the square footage, type of flooring in the room, anything especially outstanding about the room like a bay window or whatever. Then a page with the outdoor stuff. And I guess a separate page with contact info might be a good idea (or, maybe not...I could put that on the home page).
Am I going overboard? Thanks for any ideas & if anyone has any links to websites for homes I would love to see these...
Peri if you put too many pictures, you risk buyer boredom. It's important to put the main pictures -- kitchen, master bedroom, dining room, den, living room, any special rooms, master bath if it's ensuite, plus an exterior front shot and an exterior shot of the back of the home or yard. No need for a picture of the smaller bedrooms or baths. Put the pictures in that will pique the buyers interest and edge them towards making an appointment to view the home.

Thanks, Cordova, that is what I was wondering about...that maybe if it were TOO many then ppl would think they've "seen it all" & not come look.
But then I have also seen comments (referencing ppl's listings) that criticize for NOT having pics of the other rooms...saying that it looks like you have something to hide if you don't show them.
I agree, though, the purpose should be to get them interested enough to come actually LOOK...
I asked this question too a while back and I think most of the responses were the more the better. I can see your thinking though, 13 rooms is alot. I think I have 15 in total, including the outside.
I really like your idea for the website.

I think there can be too many. Looked at some on-line that had a slew of px and the more they showed the more potential to see something I didn't like. Now if I saw that house in person and liked it I would overlook some small stuff. I think you have to show enough to tempt someone to come and look but no more.

One reason I want to do one is that a lot of the houses around here are sold "locally"...in this neighborhood ppl often will look for a different home in this same area. I thought it would be easier to have a site that showed more of the house rather than have ppl tramping in & out all the time (the looky loos like me, that is!)
Put the pictures in that will pique the buyers interest and edge them towards making an appointment to view the home.
Exactly. And, you can provide hints in the text of the other features that would, in conjunction with the photos you show, entice a buyer to make an appointment to see more.
Peri, When I get pictures that have been placed in containers in front of houses, I don't enjoy seeing all the rooms. I like some pictures, sq footage, year built, taxes, schools and price.
Yesterday, I read one that had all the activities in the communities. I know that was very interesting for some people but i breezed through most of it.
I was surprised to see a pamphlet in Knoxville of a home that is near us on the river.
We are advertising in Atlanta because there is not a lot of property for sale on the lake in Atlanta. We have several neighbors that live in Atlanta and have week end home (5000') here.
That is the sq footage of our only home and we need to downsize.
I think it is great that you are doing your web page.
