Hello, I have a nephew who is married, in his early 30's. He and his wife are teachers; they moved to a small town in North Carolina for their jobs, bought a small home there. Last year, his wife took a new teaching position in New York, they moved but still have not been able to see the small home in NC. I feel bad for them; they are paying mortgage on a home in a different state and are also paying rent for their current apartment, on one income. Any suggestions for selling a home long distance?

Depending on where the house is in NC it may be a long time before it sells. They need to go ahead and find a company to manage it as a rental property for them. Our area is completely dead with the only thing selling are foreclosures and there are lots of them out there.

They know the marketplace there, and sounds like the answer is to rent..list with a Property Management Co. ReMax, C-21 and Prudential and other large offices have a Property Management Division. In many areas the sellers' market has not rebounded. Until then, they should get that mortgage payment covered.

A great agent is key in any market. An agent that remains in constant contact, providing updates on what is being done to market the property and status of traffic and feedback. If this along with specific strategy is not being discussed often, they may need a new team.
