If half of your closet is shelves and the other half hanging pole. Remove shelves and extend pole. One long shelf over the pole is fine.

I am not referring to homes with closet grating system unless there is not enough hanging space.

Just food for thought.

I hear this comment from buyers..not enough closet space for my clothes.

It is also a good idea if you have two or more hall closets, turn one into a hanging closet.

Builder for some reason have stopped building coat closets at entry. Big mistake.

They sure have!

We just bought a 3100 sq. foot home with ZERO closet space on the main floor! There is a huge laundry room, so I guess that's where we'll put the vacuum, but I still don't know where we will hang coats once winter gets here. I just don't get the logic in no closets!!

Suggestion. If there is an oversized closet in one of the bedrooms or more with one end at the hallway wall... you can create a hall closet..with not too much expense.

Good Idea REL, I wouldn't have thought of that!! My 1st home purchase I was soo excited and didn't even think about closets, the whole 1st level didn't have a ONE!! Soo any home I buy now, I'm sure to check them out good!!

Hi, 2stay!

I think that's normal with a first home purchase. When most of us first buy we don't have that many "things"...(unless you count all those 20 something House Hunters that need the huge closets & think everything is "a little small", lol.) So it isn't such a priority to think about.

In our case, by the time we moved to our second home we had begun to accumlate "stuff." AND we had "accumulated" a child. So I DEFNITELY noticed the storage space the 2nd time around!

WONDERFUL, We have somethig that everyone wants.
Ppl say that they have never seen so much storage space.

The reason, My DH turned the 2000 sq ft rancher to 5027'.
We have a 10 x 12 walk in closet, a storage room 8x 10, 4 x 6 closet, hall closet, etc.
We do not have a linen closet. Wish we did.

So far, no one has made an offer. Hopefully, we will this Sunday open house.

Peri,
What kind of response are you getting.

Everyone was celebrating the 4th. Thank goodness, we did not have anyone looking.
DD and her family and friends were here.

Everyone in the family has used this storage space. We WERE running over with stuff.
Most has been returned to the family member that it belonged to or send to charity.
