Hi everyone! I need help. I am putting together a new room for my preteen daughter. We are moving into a new 'contemporary' space and I would love to use a 'green paint for her room. She has also chosen to use the color green. The bedroom is 12'x14' with a small closet but 10 foot ceilings, so we are installing a wall wardrobe that will surround the bed with overhead cabinets above the bed. The wardrobe and bed will be white. (If you go to the Ikea US website, it's the furniture from the 3rd bedroom design). Anyway, I'm thinking that she should choose two greens, a lighter one for 3 walls and one a shade darker for an accent wall. Can anyone suggest a 'cool' green 'green' color for a 'cool' preteen? Looking at some color at Sears (
not
green brand-Easy Living) she likes CC221 Avocado Lime Light for the 3 walls and CC222 Juicy Lime for the accent. Is there anything similar in a 'green' paint and/or better maybe to go with a contemporary style home that is currently painted in different shades of beige w/ white crown molding?

According to my preadult daughter with an AWESOME eye....She liked the parakeet green used in the DH. You may want to see if there is something similar to that at Sears.

Hope you'll be able to find it.

By the way....welcome to the Green House MB. Another forum that may be able to assist you is...Decorating: Colors....in fact...someone by the name of kerryokie is asking about the perfect green.

Hope this helps!

I am fond of soft green apple. I've been updating my home with it and it's such a cool and relaxing color.

To me anyway Wink

If you are looking for eco-friendly paint, I really liked the choices at Benjamin Moore. You could go study their paint chips. Smile

I'm not sure about specific colors, but you can find several types of zero-VOC paint here: http://www.greenyourdecor.com/?cat=70

Pure performance has a range of more than 100 colors, so you could probably find one that is similar to the color she liked.

Teresa, We just painted our "daughters room" Behr Prem Plus Crisp Celery ICC-58 eggschell enamel. daughter is 27 but she still thinks it's hers Roll Eyes Just don't make our paint misstakes: don't trust paint chips!! Spend a few ** to buy little 8oz samples of the colors and sheen you like. Depending on your curtains' natual/artificial light and the sheen you pick The color might look totally different on the wall (after painting our accent wall in the DR2x's we discovered we just needed to change the sheen ALL CHIPS ARE FLAT or FLAT ENAMEL SHEEN. Sherwin-Williams carries a zero-VOC product line called Harmony. They have a line of primers and topcoats. These products will outperform anything that you find at sears, home depot, wal-mart, etc. Sherwin can also match any other color in their stores. The list price on these product is high, but if you know a painter you can get this product for less than 22/gallon. There is info on this product and other "green" products at www.greenwaveforever.com
