I absolutely love David, his personality, good looks and fabulous talents! However, I really miss Danielle and Ian. They really contributed to the show. What's up with the assistants on Color Splash Miami, they don't show any talent at all. I barely enjoy this show. I only watch it because of David. Why did HGTV make such a bad decision and change the show????

I absolutely agree! The Miami show is much less good than the San Francisco show because of the other people. I miss Danielle, Ian and I cannot remember the name of the excellent sewer, the English woman - miss her too! The Miami clients all seem to want the same thing, too -- ultra modern. It doesn't show off David's various abilities at different styles.

While I'd agree that there's very much a different vibe on the Miami show and I liked the SF version, I don't have anywhere near the animosity towards the Miami crew that others seem to. I love Gina -- I think she's a doll and Patricia and Stewart are growing on me.

The biggest difference, I think, is that on the SF Color Splash, Danielle, Ian and Claire were given more opportunity to talk to camera, explaining technique and process, whereas the Miami crew is portrayed merely as supporting cast. I don't think it's entirely fair to them to infer from that that they aren't as talented as the SF crew -- it's the way the show is being produced.

I truly miss Danielle, Ian and Claire! I love David, too, and I will always watch whatever he's on because I think he is truly so talented and charming on-camera. But the old crew was soooo awesome with David. Not only were they great together, but they were so engaging with the viewers as well, with both Danielle and Ian giving great tips in every episode. I learned S.O. MUCH!! Meanwhile, with the Miami crew, I can't remember the last tip Gina or Stuart ever gave.

But I am a fan of Color Splash, and even though I prefer the SF team, I still watch the Miami show.

I preferred the SF shows, too. Not only because I enjoyed that crew more, but because I liked the style of the homes and the color pallettes David worked with more. SF seemed more tuned in to the colors of nature, but the Miami shows seem to be all about glitter and glitz, and that doesn't appeal to me. Even with Danielle and Ian, I still don't think I'd be enjoying the Miami shows as much.

Wonder if they'll move to different sections of the country in future seasons? I'd love to see some shows set in the southwest, or the Rockies, or New England, to see how David relates to designing for those areas, architecture and colors of nature there.

I wholeheartedly agree! The show is all but unwatchable with the Miami group.

I read that David was doing makeovers in NY, so I watched last weekend (it was the candy/toy store couple?) It was an improvement over what I saw him do in Miami and I caught glimpses of the old David. Great! But his assistants are still bringing him down. I can understand that he probably wants to show some loyalty to them after bringing them on, but he needs to cut bait because hardly anybody is biting now. He once responded to a letter from a fan saying that if the show ever went on the road, he and the team would come do the makeover...but it was his SF team. Since these cable TV "seasons" are so freaking short, would it be a pride-crusher to ask Danielle, Ian, and Claire to travel occasionally to do shows in different places like David is now doing? Would that be so impossible? Have too many bridges been burned?

I could not agree more. The new crew has made the show unwatchable. I want to see design, not a fashion show. Yet his assistants seem to think they are Cher with the constant costume changes that are totally inappropriate for the work they are supposedly doing. Danielle was personable and very talented. We miss her!

Maybe HGTV is listening. This morning I saw Danielle during a commercial break. She was showing how to faux paint some lockers. It was one of those 30 second sponsored things.

If they've used her for this short segment, maybe there's some hope of her being back on Color Splash.

Roadtripboy,

It may have been a clip from a Color Splash-SF episode. Were the lockers orange/red colored, and was it for a den space? If so, that was a show clip (if memory serves me!) If David can't or won't reunite with his SF crew, I would love it if Danielle and Ian got a show. But I'm afraid the HGTV do-it-yourself makeover genre is dead now. It seems like all you see now is designers shopping and directing contractors, and contractors directing sub-contractors. I guess the PTBs have decided if you don't have the money to hire a designer and contractors, then you're probably either homeless or you can't afford to do a makeover anyway....

The "costume changes" are probably the result of several days, if not weeks, of taping being edited down to an hour-long show and who the bleep are you to say what's appropriate for their work?

I probably ought to just start giving the Color Splash section a miss, because it's been overrun with judgemental prigs who only want to carp about how Gina and Patricia aren't boring, white bread Danielle.

Well, since you just can't seem to accept that most of us original CS fans would rather watch "boring, white bread Danielle" get down and dirty while demonstrating how to actually do a makeover than watch a couple of diva-wannabee groupies every week, then all there is to say to you is, "So long. You won't be missed!"

Catty is just your normal state of being, isn't it?

Weren't you the one who said, "I probably ought to just start giving the Color Splash section a miss...?" Honesty and directness is not "catty"!

Maybe not "catty" but I would say rude. Each of us has a right here to express our opinion and I don't see MsWH being "catty" or mean to those of you that seem to harbor such hate for Gina and Patricia.

As has already been stated these 2 play an entirely different role than Ian or Danielle did on the SF version. They can NOT fill those shoes and it doesn't seem to me they are trying. If you all want instruction you should be talking bad about the new painter and carpenter because they are the ones that are Ian and Danielle's counterparts for the Miami show.

remember producers think if you are not between the age of 22-29 you have no place in television. What 22-29 year old have money to renovate or just decorate a room. Half of them still lives at home or rent. They also think they should show their breast and tatoos. Remember how David use to take his shirt off all the time on Design Star, until someone finally said he needs to put his shirt on, they are not tuning in to watch his chest.

It's amazing the offense some people take when they simply have no reasonable, relevant reply to make. You -- and MsWH -- may just love David's new girlfriends, but most CS fans simply do not. And if you don't want a "rude" response here, don't come on here saying anything like "boring old white bread Danielle" -- as Ms.WH did! -- when you already admit that the replacements are only that, not equals and definitely not improvements!

I so agree with everyone here ! The SF version of David's show was more interesting, showed David's diversity as a designer, AND Danielle and Ian were on it! David may live in Miami,a cool ,eclectic place for sure, but SF is THE inspirational place for Designers!! Come on David, spread your artistic wings and get off the Miami dull-drums of repedative designing!! WE ALL LOVE YOU !!

Please bring the show back that had Danielle an Ian back they could show you how to do something instead of before and after pictures. Nothing against the new crew just don't like the format of th show anymore.

Ian! He was great. Probably one of the best "on tv" carpenters on HGTV. I wonder where he went.

I miss the old show also. I agree with most that the SF show was better. However I do wish that David and his crew would go out and about. Help others on some kind of contest. The shows are being repeated here where I live and way to much of selling homes. I don't hink that has to do with helping others do things in thier homes. I really don't give a hoot where people want to buy homes. There should be a program on that alone. Decorating and crafts is what the HGTV was about in the begining. I love David and want to see more of his genius.

I also loved Color Splash, San Fran. Miami is really getting boring and overdone. The same old design, the same old location, and the style of design. I know the reason why David moved from San Fran to Miami, but he is a big star for HGTV so why could they not transfer his partner to San Fran. When is HGTV going to respond to any of these posts?
