I want to do something like this room...

http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/dc_design_living_area/article/...6_5691502_04,00.html

...But I will have mostly the green rather than yellow (in the perimeter of an open space). The kitchen which is in the middle of the space will be the yellow. I won't be doing faux painting so the Semolina may be too bright. Any suggestions for an alternate yellow or gold color? I have very orange oak cabinets and I think I need a yellow with some weight to "support" a dark countertop.

Thank you!

SW Napery is nice . . .it may be too light for you though. Depends on how many windows you have in the room.

I have lots of windows but the kitchen area is in the inner portion of the open space and always feels dark and depressing.

ah, Semolina, you're tempting another one. Semolina IS a very bright gold with orange. We call it the "Cheetos" color. They use it to good effect at Panera Bread.

But if you like that look then you should check out Roasted Sesame Seed 2160-40 (these are all BenM paint colors, BTW) and Amber Waves 2159-40 which are a TAD bit more neutralized than Sesame. A lovely soft luminous yellow that is MUCH easier on the eyes and that would be perfect for an inside kitchen is Vellum CC-207 or Summer Harvest CC-206. For very light buttery yellows, then Weston Flax HC-5 and Windham Cream HC-6 are my favorites. (All still BenM colors.)

She used Brookside Moss 2145-30 for the green. I like the color right below it better -- Fernwood Green 2145-40.

Like the other poster I was going to recommend Roasted Sesame Seed also and would like to also mention Dijon by BM - I just painted my hallway Dijon and it is a beautiful color.

Yes, like Dijon very much. Much softer gold than the bright golds we're talking about.

We used BM's Honeywheat for one accent wall in the LR and then all up and down the hallway. It's a nice color - other three walls in LR are BM's Whipple Blue.

Thanks for all the yellow recommendations. Now I am looking for a green as a whole house color.

I live in Nevada and my house is begging for muddier, earthier colors. I've tried Lewiville Green, Georgian Green and they don't look right (too clean?). Casey, Fernwood Green is too pastel for my house. I ordered Providence Olive. It has not arrived but it may be too dark or somber. Any suggestions for olives that are not too dark or too warm? It needs to go with both cool and warm colors.

Spanish Olive CC-1509, Olive Branch 2143-30 (which is fairly dark), Camouflage 2143-40, Flowering Herbs CC-507 & Baby Turtle CC-508, Cheyenne CC-1502, Texas Sage CC-1503, Dry Sage 2142-40, Sage Mountain CC-1488, Nantucket Gray HC-111, Old Salem Gray HC-94...some are browner, some are grayer, all are great. If this is for exterior, remember you can go much darker than you would think (especially in Nevada) since the sunlight washes colors out.
