So I have deiced to actaully go with BM Aura Paint for my kitchen and family room, mostly because I want a matte finish and I hear theire Aura paint is a great durable matte.

So here's my questions..I don't want to give up the other P&L colours for the rest of the house and was wondering if they made a good matte paint? I'm not so worried about the scrubable feature for the Dining room and living room, but I am for the halls.

I know P&L are top quality but I don't really know about their scrubbability factor. Pretty sure they're excellent. RXSL would say it's all about the acrylic and the hardeners and lots of other technical stuff. You might PM her. She's been too busy to pop in often lately.

I'm getting ready to paint my hallway too and it's going to be BenM's Edgecomb Gray in the Aura matte.

That's too funny casey. That's the colour I have tentatively picked out to go with the Navy in the family room and in the Aura Matte as well.

It's better to go with a higher sheen in the kitchen for moisture reasons. I guess matte can work if you don't cook. Ever. I understand your preference as I would love to paint with matte everywhere.

I wouldn't choose the colors on how scrubable the paint is. What if you think "I wish I had gone with the color I loved". If children are involved you're probably going to paint anyway when they are old enough to know not to color the walls.

We have a backsplash in the kitchen so there is actaully not that much surface to paint. Only the portion of the wall above the cabinets, hence my decision to go matte.

The backsplash is really the only area you really need scrubbability. Aura matte should be good everywhere else.

And what can I say? I like your color sense.

Have your P&L colors mixed in Aura.

The modern mattes are durable enough to use anywhere. Needing sheen for durability/scrubability isn't so much the case these days.

I'd choose a hi-end matte product over a low-end product with more sheen in order to achieve better longevity and uber durability. Here's a few for example:

Pittsburgh Paints Accent colors, Ben Moore's Aura, Sherwin Williams Duration, Muralo's Ultra Ceramic, ACE has one too, but I can't remember what they call it Red Face.

FC nailed it. Forget about the old "rules" when it comes to super premium products like Aura. All three of their finishes will wash exactly the same so unless you want the shine of a higher gloss, you can use the matte everywhere. Frankly, I don't know of anyone that actually scrubs walls (like with a scrub sponge) and if that's what you are into, no finish will look the same afterwards anyway. Another plus with the matte is that it touches up beautifully.

It was driving me nuts. I had to look it up.
    ACE Sensations

I had a client who lived around the corner from the Dublin ACE so this is what she painted most of house with. It was a great value IMO, nice palette, good looking final finish.

I'm in the process of finishing up our master bedroom in SW Duration. Wonderful product -- have to had to paint in stages because of moving extremely heavy furniture, and the paint shows absolutely no brush strokes and the finish is gorgeous, reminding me of brushed suede without the hassle of faux finishing.

I had planned to paint in two shades of SW Duration, but now that the darker shade is up and I painted the small boxed entry into the bedroom in a lighter shade, I think I prefer the entire room in the darker shade.

So if anyone has any need for a gallon of SW Willow Tree, I may let you take it off my hands!
