kataperzGREAT ROOM COLOR SCHEME - HELP!
hi everyone,
we've just purchased a new home from a builder and are trying to decide on the color scheme for great room (where the living room and kitchen are combined into one huge open space). we have super dark wood floors, white cabinets and want to do light grey walls... we love the modern look so wanted to do black/dark grey countertops BUT the standard color of the kitchen countertops are a light beige color. do you guys think that it will be weird?? how do you think it will make the room look? thanks for your input!

Froo FrooWon't the builder consider an upgrade in the countertops (at a minimal additional cost to you) so you can select a gray countertop? Seems this is the best form of action vs. trying to make do with the color he's planning on installing which may work, but may fester after a time and you won't be happy. If not, make those light beige countertops work for you. Personally tho, if the flooring is dark and the cabinetry is white, it sounds like your inclination to go w/ a gray countertop makes more sense in terms of contrast balance.
