Just wanted some ideas for colors for my home office. I have a desk in a cherry wood. Would like some ideas for a grayish blue or maybe even tan colors that would feel beachy. I have one big pic in room of sailboat , colors in that pic are dark and grayish blues

IME, maam, the cherry can trend either red or orange. Any reason you don't want to simply pick up the grey and/or blue tones from your artwork? Both of those colors and/or tan will definitely feel beachy, especially if you use lighter shades of them. Any store's paint counter staff will be happy to either exactly match them for you and/or locate a lighter shade or complementary color.

In any event, I have a feeling you'll receive tons more responses and specific color suggestions, if you post a photo of your office (or preferably two or more) here on the mb.

Normally, I would agree to draw scheme inspiration from your art as the gray/blues will compliment your desk. Indeed, once the family of blue/gray is matched to your art and then your chip in the room's lighting, you can opt for a paler value from that chip. You must however, factor in the flooring, trim (unless white or cherry), room size as well as the lighting (natural and artifical). Also, is this home office on the main floor near public spaces? If so, a degree of flow of scheme should be maintained unless all is neutral. Grays (and tans) are considered neutrals tho.
