I can't believe how hard it is to pick out colors. I'm actually repainting my entire home that we recently built. When building, I just didn't have the time to find the "perfect" colors. Now that we are moved in, I'm ready to make a decision.
Our home is out in the woods. Kind of rustic, but not TOO rustic. We have a lot of windows, but a huge covered porch which blocks most direct sunlight. I like warm colors, but I'm not wanting to go too dark at all. I'm thinking SW Eaglet Beige for all of my trim and ceilings. My doors are a medium stain (knotty pine). I love the look of painted trim against the stained doors. I think it makes the doors pop. Saw idea in HGTV 2006 Dream Home. What do you think? I'm liking SW Svelt Sage for my living room (have brown leather furniture). I want the LR to feel cozy. My kitchen isn't completely open to the living room, but the kitchen is definitely visible from LR. I would like my kitchen to be light and airy. My cabinets are a medium stain, knotty alder wood. I was thinking about painting the walls, trim, AND ceiling all eaglet beige in the kitchen and then having pops of color (green, brown, etc.) throughout. Is this TOO light? Any other color suggestion for kitchen? Then I was thinking of SW Latte for my laundry, 1/2 bath, office, etc. I love this site and thank you so much for any ideas or suggestions! |

I forgot to mention... I'm trying to decorate with a "nature theme" (pinecones, leaves, some floral, etc.) since we live out in the woods. Our property borders the Ozark National Forest.

These sound great. Svelte Sage is MY favorite sage, bar none, including those other ones that I like at BenM. (A friend of mine has three bedrooms painted in a sage and her SS bedroom is my FAVORITE!)
There was an interesting house in Fine Homebuilding magazine a decade or so ago that was set in the Ozarks who also wanted to bring the outside in. What was interesting was they made a "mood board" (a useful tool of designers where they assemble all the elements of a room on a piece of foamboard and look at how it all works together). What was cool was their "mood board" had leaves collected from their lot and pictures taken especially during the fall and they built their rooms around THOSE colors. Then they included paint chips and fabrics an wood finishes samples. That way the house was very cohesive and totally in tune with nature's colors. But anyway, Eaglet Beige and SS look good together. And some other colors that particularly love SS are those on the paintstrip with Blonde and Restrained Gold. |

Thank you so much for your reply! That's a great idea. I think I'll try the mood board idea. I have SO MANY paint samples. You should see my living room. I have different colors painted everywhere and I just keep staring at them. Hopefully I'll decide soon.

Casey... I have one more question for you. I feel like the Eaglet Beige is a bit too light for my entire kitchen (walls, ceiling, trim). I stared at it last night for quite a while.

Okay, what about SW Macadamia in my kitchen, Svelte Sage in LR and Eaglet Beige for all ceilings and trim?

Works for me.
