Ahh.... peace at last!

I've found my colors.

Baja Dunes #997 for base
Rustic Taupe #999 for trim around windows

It's just the right amount of contrast and I relaxed the minute I saw it go up. You were right - way too much contrast on the others, which was why I couldn't settle on it.. just didn't feel/look right. I'm so glad I slowed down and took the time to reread some of the comments made at the very beginning, of which you (astroluvr) suggested the 998 or 999 to begin with. 998 was too close to Baja Dunes. I guess I learn the hard way.

So, now that is complete. What did you have in mind as far as accents? I will tell you that the Rustic Taupe as some green influence in it. You can see this more in the front of the house than in the back, for some reason. In the back it looks more like darker taupe - that's good since it goes better with the furniture back there.

Thanks for hanging in there with me. I feel SO much better! I'm attaching 4 different pictures of theses colors painted on various areas of the house.

The door we are going with is a metal six panel - basic, that will need to be painted. There are more limitations on the storm door. We will go with the Anderson 4000 series and it will be left on year round. Here is the link - look under Color or Finish for color options. I did check out the colors at the store and the one that closely matches Baja Dunes is Sandtone. Wineberry is very pinky.

I know that my husband is very open to any door color. I would lean more towards a different version of the Yorktowne or the coral - would have to be the right coral, though. I'm thinking purple would be a stretch, even though I see the vision there... but eggplant could be pretty. I just have no eggplant in my house, which is why I'd lean more towards to prior two.

All my patio furniture is off the deck right now and in the barn preparing for painting, but it all has the taupe/light taupe colors in it. No other real accent colors, besides red stripes in two seats and I'm looking to change that anyway.

I think we are going to just stain the whole deck. My husband is not into painting any part of it, though I'm trying to work on him for at least the railings and some other areas. For now, safe to say it will all be stained. I haven't been looking too much at that since I've been consumed with the paint scheme. Same doors on the back - just painted (not sure what yet).

Thansk!

Just wanted to check in to say that the house is painted - and the trim is currently being completed. I did opt for Baja as the base (as has always been) and Rustic Taupe (2 jumps down from Baja on the color card) for the trim. We went with an apple red on the door (the same color that is on our barn). The storm door is on order and will be here within the week. I have been very pleased with the painting and really like the colors. I also purchased new lights for the front porch area and put up an outdoor ceiling fan under the porch/deck area. I'll post a picture when it is competed.

The next project will be the deck and I'm trying to get my husband to like the idea of staining the floor and painting the railings - so much better on maintenance in this hot CO sun.

Thanks again for all the feedback and time spent on this project. We ended up getting a lot of smaller jobs done as well, which were much needed! Can't wait to start the landscaping - I have so many ideas!!! But first, we'll finish the painting and then stain the deck Smile

you may want to change out those covers on the garage windows they sort of look rather funny as that design is no where else on the house

Here are some pics of the house after it was painted. I'm still waiting on the storm door to arrive. Unfortunately, it's been very overcast the last few days so the house doesn't look very bright, plus all our vegetation is very brown due to lack of rain in CO, so my task is to add some interest with plants/pumpkins, etc. We'll do the deck next. I'm planning on doing a painted railing and stain the floor and tops of the railings. We will also be adding a trellis under the deck. Another item that may be on the list is to do something with the concrete in front of the house. I'd love to do a flagstone or something to cover where the concrete has chipped away. Maybe even just a stain - we will see. After all this we can get the furniture back in, etc. Whew, I'll be glad when this is over!

Sissy77 - I did consider that on the garage doors. That will have to wait. The other option was to take them out and it started looking rather bare.

You did a beautiful job painting!! Well done! I wouldn't try to to introduce too many color groups personally, have you thought about a very light brown to accent? It already looks so beautiful, I wouldn't want to see you end up not enjoying the finished product. Just a thought. It is your home and you do what you will be happy with! One other thought for a pop of color is to paint your door a bright color. Your home is almost identical to mine and we have a deep maroon door on our home. Our shutters are also the maroon as well. Please let me know what you decide, painting is so exciting!!! I just looked at your pictures and realized you did exactly what we did and painted your door the maroon color so for any other accents I would stay with light brown or maroon. Excuse me for not looking at all of the pictures thoroughly before answering. I really do love what you have done with it. You have a lot to be proud of and I am certain you will enjoy it for many years to come!!
