We are finishing our basement. Our main floor is done in white trim, doors, window casings. Is is best to follow that color scheme in the basement also, or could be go w/ stained wood if we want? I don't want it to look odd. If we go the stained route, I will have to replace the trim and small shelf area that has already been done as you open the door and enter the basement stairway.
Most people like continuity in their house when it comes to trim. If you have white upstairs, I'd probably go with white downstairs too. Plus white makes every color look good against it.
