I am painting my great room area in squire hill buff. I was wondering what purple in the benjamin moore or sherwin williams colors would go good with the squire hill buff (that would be suitable for a dining room)? The two colors would be side by side.

....if anybody has any experience with the squire hill buff color and has paired it with other colors that turned out great, i'd be interested in knowing those also. Thanks

Your local BM store can help you locate a suitable purple from the same paint chip as the Squire Hill Buff.

I suggest trying several samples on the wall (adjacent to the SHB) and checking them in your room's light before committing. That's the only way to properly select the best shade, IMHO.

It's a good idea to take any fabrics, accessories or other color inspirations for the room plus metals or woods along with you to the paint store, too. The counter personnel could easily match a purple for you.

BTW, alternatively, you could use BM's website tools and purchase samples online.

I like Squire Hill Buff with B.M. # 2072-30 Purple Lotus.It also looks good with B.M. # 2075-10 Dark Burgundy.They are both dark colors and would need the right room to pull them off, but the combinations are rich and beautiful.Best of luck.

These are both beautiful, rich colors but very different. The dark burgundy's more of an eggplant, IMHO.

As Charles indicated, you need the right room to pull them off. That's why it's critical, IMHO, that you sample them in your room's light and consider your existing color scheme, e.g. fabric, accessories, artwork, rug, etc.

Always easier, IMHO, to match paint to your existing decorating items than vice versa.
