I am needing some advice, I have picked out new colors that I want in my home and in each room. What I am wanting to know is if my choices would be appealing or not. I am thinking for a bedroom going with a dark color on two walls & then for a lighter color in the same hue on the other two walls. Please help!!

Appealing to whom? If you and your family like the colors, then you're fine.

It would be appealing to me & my family but I also don't want to make a fashion disaster by painting two different colors in a room.

Maybe you should first look at some decorator magazines and see how many rooms you can find with two different colors on walls.
Sometimes people who have a large room consider a statement wall of a darker color than the other 3 walls just to draw attention to something special like a painting that pops or featuring a headboard, etc.
But to just arbitrarily decide that you want different colors on your walls might be a bit much to live with after a while. Think good and hard about it before you go ahead with it and are sorry.
Of coure, if you really have your heart set on that, all it takes is a change of paint if you decide you don't like it.

What I was referring to for the rooms being two different colors was the bedrooms. My living room, dinning room & kitchen are open to one another and I have chosen to go with only one color to accent a few of my walls in each of the rooms. I hope that this makes better sense.

Hopefully someone on here has some advice. I live in a aprtment where tenants are not allowed to paint the walls. In fact if you want to put up some border you can not glue it you have to put it up with tacks. I wish to create a accent wall how can I go about doing this on a small budget? I cannot paint the walls so how do i create an accent wall can someone please help me do this

One idea would be to hang a large wall hanging that would dominate the room and decorate around it.
Another idea would be to hang all different sized photos on the wall, like only all black and white photos, and make that your statement wall.

KYMom, have you seen any of the wall decals on the market? I've seen many of the designers using versions of them and it's my understanding they don't damage the walls.

They have numerous options available at Target, even. Many of them contain nature scenes. Here's only one example, offered at $12.99, online:

Oops, my function keys haven't worked since HGTV changed this site. Anyway, if you do a search on wall decals at target.com, you'll find many options. I've seen them in the store, too.

Another thing I was considering when I read your post - why not construct something out of mdf to essentially lean against the wall? Have a feeling you could find some stick on tape (double-sided) that wouldn't damage the walls to hold it in place. You could either paint an accent wall that way or how about using a projector to outline and then paint an image on it?

Haven't tried it yet but I've heard that liquid paste can be used to attach fabric to walls. I've also heard that renters can use it b/c it doesn't damage walls. That would be a beautiful option. I'm sure instructions are available online.

Let us know what you decide to do. Would love to see some pix.

If you are concerned about how to adhere something to the walls, I have a quilted wall hanging and it stays on my wall with velcro.

WRT the wall decals, they're supposed to self-adhere and shouldn't damage the walls.

WRT the fabric walls, I misspoke, slightly. Instead of paste, it's actually adhered with liquid starch - say liquid starch functions as the paste.

When you move, it's easily removed with a small amount of water. The wall's scrubbed with a sponge. The good news: it does not damage the wall one bit, according to the experts.

My function keys don't work (did HGTV change something?) or I'd give you a link. If you search on fabric walls, liquid starch, renters - multiple websites appear. Ehow contains detailed instructions for both installation and removal.

More good news: when you move, you can simply launder the fabric and reuse it! Or, change up your walls prior to moving, if you want a different look.

KyMom, don't know if you're still around but here's another option. They have a new easy on, easy off w/p with no damage to the walls so it's supposed to work well for renters.

My links don't work but the brand name is Easy-Walls and you can locate retailers in your area by punching in your zip on their website at warnerwalls.com. The main retailer is SW.

It may be slightly more expensive but they claim you save on both supplies and installation. They have numerous patterns available.

So, that's another option for your accent wall.
