I am in need of serious color ideas for our kitchen- I am not very creative or good when it comes to matching & designing. Appliances are stainless steel and cabinets are maple stained. Floor is linoleum cream with wood around.
My first thought was to try some type of red on the back wall by the sliding door and over the kitchen sink and then a golden yellow or gold (not too bright) on the rest of the walls. Our foyer has two walls that go into the kitchen so the main color will have to go into the foyer too. I have attempted to post pictures- if it works, you can click here to view them, http://s295.photobucket.com/albums/mm148/livpl_2008/ I am also thinking of painting our cabinets too but this will be at another time so I am trying to work on the walls now. Any advice is appreciated- Thanks in advance. |

And your countertop is butcher block? And you have white tile backsplash? So you have a LOT of wood going on.
You have such a small space and it's got so much orangey-brown in there (the wood) already that I think I would just paint it all one color. It looks like you're playing with the Laura Ashley reds? (Did I spot some paint chips there?) Because red tends to be a dark color that eats light, for once I'm going to say go for the gold. If you're looking at Lowes, then check out the Laura Ashley Golds -- Pale Gold 2, Gold 3 & Gold 4 (depending on how dark you're brave enough to go. Also the Eddie Bauer Bungalow gold which is darker but beautiful with wood tones. And his Caramel. yummy colors. Then when you get around to painting the cabs (which IS a big job) you could either go very light or paint them the red. Patty Louise on the main General Decorating board has a beautiful kitchen with red bottom cabinets and cream uppers (this is currently quite popular). Let me see if I can find her pics: Pattylouises_kitchen This works because it keeps the upper spaces light and airy but grounds the bottom. This message has been edited. Last edited by: casey31652, |
