I have an 8x22 sunroom that is being painted for first time. The front wall & ends are mostly windows but everything that isn't windows I'm painting "moonlight" which is a soft yellow & using white as trim.
My problem is... the other (long) wall is red cedar wood. Cedar is almost impossible to cover with a light color paint without bleed through. It would much easier to cover if I use some shade of red paint. Do you think in a room this narrow that the color red would make it seem smaller? Would you try to paint it yellow? I could really use your input as how you would handle this. Thanks.

You didn't attach any pics so don't know how the red cedar looks without paint. Have you considered leaving it natural? Just another possibility -
Let us know how it turns out and good luck!
P.S. I would consider the flow with adjacent rooms but many/most versions of red look terrific with yellow IMHO.This message has been edited. Last edited by: blueday,
A portion of our exterior facade is reddish cedar. Over the years, we decided to use a solid stain to freshen it tho I hated to disguise the fact it was wood and not manmade siding. We've used SW Almond Tree (see choices in link below) which is a pale golden/beige hue and it still reveals the grain and wears for a number of years (ours is exposed to the elements). The point is, that a solid stain in even a pale color made for wood should do the trick.
If the red cedar jives with your yellow, glp, then I would select a natural stain to freshen it up. BTW, have always followed this procedure with decks, too.
Good Luck! This message has been edited. Last edited by: blueday,
