Our home is currently all white. We would like add some curb appeal to the outside of the home. Thinking of painting the architectural details on the home but leaving the base white. Need help with colors and what areas on the home to paint. The roof is dark and windows are white. Any ideas to give this home some interest. ThanksThis message has been edited. Consider a warm taupe.

The front door is a beautiful wood and I do not want to paint it. I was considering a taupe color along the top of the roof (trim molding) and to accentuate the pillars. Would it be too much of a contrast with the white? We are not afraid of color and the inside of our home is decorated with earth tones...red, oranges, greens, browns, dusty blue.
I would even consider painting multiple colors...did not think it should be too dark with the white. The roof is fairly dark and you see a lot of it. The roof color is shades of gray and brown.
We have not lived in the home very long and have been busy remodeling inside. We would like to give the home more detail as there is quite a bit of detailing that could be accentuated. Live in a very wooded area and were thinking of leaving the back all white??

I agree...lovely home and re. painting the bulk of the exterior a med. taupe will make the details pop such as the trim and columns. View chips in the natural light as it changes over a few days. You might opt to use a darker taupe from the same chip to highlight the arch, but keep the underside of the arch entryway white so it won't be cavelike. There are programs on the Web that allow you to experiment with exterior colors. Some posters use a program to assist with visual changes to help you decide. Perhaps someone will come along and assist with that.
To add more color to the facade, plant more colorful trees, plants and flowers. Reds and yellows will compliment the new scheme beautifully. Variegated greenery will add more visual appeal too.
Also, when budget permits, consider beefing up the entryway lighting. The fixtures on the columns appear a tad small in scale. Hanging a matching pendant fixture under the archway will help to illuminate the doorway. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Froo Froo,
