Hi I'm new to this board. I have bought some new bedroom furniture. A black canopy bed with dresser chest and nightstands. I found out about freshaire paint no vocs and decided to try it. I chose charted voyage for my bathroom and summer dragonfly for the bedroom. I was thinking I may use some sage green for accenting. Trying to achieve the colors of sea glass. I spent so much time looking at samples and the blues were not even contenders originally and before I knew it I bought them. Now I'm wondering if the room which is large will look like a giant nursery. Any suggestions on making this fresh and sophisticated? Thanks

I didn't know this paint so I scurried off to their website. PRETTY colors! I don't think these are babyish colors at all! Love the Summer Dragonfly especially. It's my kind of color. I would bring in some crisp white and maybe find one beautiful fabric that has all the seaglass colors for throw pillows and curtains. Keep your accessories simple and uncluttered. Black/white/blue-green is a lovely scheme.

This room is rather similar to yours:

Blue-green bedroom

The pillow fabric unites all the colors. Love that fabric. And something like this fabric would unite everything:

fabric #1

Thanks Casey,
My original thought was to pull colors out of a painting I have in the room which is golds, yellows, greens all the earthy colors. I figured I'd go with some rich colors, expand on what I have and veer off just a little. Low and behold looking at those colors just felt so peaceful and restful for a bedroom. I have trouble sleeping at night and hope these colors will induce some good sleep. That's another reason for using that freshaire paint. Besides being good for the enviornment, there is no smell. I'm just trimming my ceiling and there is no odor what so ever.
I love the pics you posted and the fabric is sophisticated but soothing. I was also thinking of using some earthy browns in my bedding. I didn't want to be trendy, but maybe less feminine. Ah decisions, so who care what the man thinks...lol. If
I can figure out how to post pics, I'll post the colors when I'm done. Thanks again it's great to hear input it helps you keep other perspectives in mind.

Oh boy! I'm not sure this is what I want. The color is greenish blue but is not soft. it's turquiose. Not sure if it will look good when it's all painted. I just have the trim done and it's not sitting well with me. I don't usually have trouble with colors. Thought I was being a bit more adventurous to try this look. Has anyone else out there used the freshaire line of paints from home depot?

oops, didn't realize you're a guy. hee. okay, not so feminine.

So, how about more geometric pattern and colors like these in your bedding:

Greens/turquoise

With more greens and some golds, you could go with your initial inspiration painting. Go for texture in your accessories -- wood, fibers like sisal/raffia, deep wood tones.

Lol! no I'm not a guy, you made me laugh though. I just mean't I've done the flowers and was thinking I'd go in another direction. I love
the sleek hotel look and then also like airy and light. That's my trouble I can't decide. I wound up with behr russian blue behind where the bed goes and cumberland blue on the other walls. I use the russian in my master bath as well. I'll accent with creams and some sort of earth tone. Usually I look forward to changing things. I just hoping I can pull it all together.
