I have an open floor plan that includes the living, dineing and kitchen. A open stair case in the middle to divide...problem...I want to paint but where to cut it off to make it atleast two rooms. It is a ranch style, black w/white flecks in counter tops, black fridge and dishwasher, stainless steel double oven, red oak floors. It is now a light lavendar color through out the entire space. Olive sectional, oak dinnig table. Gross blue tab curtians, they are going, but need some help in what to paint. I like reds, but bright colors, my bedroom is chocolate which is right off the great room. Any suggestions??????

I don't know the exact layout, but you could paint opposite walls different colors to make them feel like different rooms. Then paint the other 2 walls the same color; a more toned down color.

    Does this make sense?
