New idea fo den Sign In/Join

I just had an entirely different idea for my den. The trim and one entire wall of shelving and cabinet area will be Dove White. Carpeting is beige. I am thinking of moving a loveseat, chair and ottoman in there. Loveseat is light stripes of sage green, gold, blue and cream. Green is the pedominate color. Chair and ottoman are large floral print, cream background, and floral matches loveseat. I need new sofa, do I match loveseat style, which is stuffed country look? What about color, can I use any color in chair or loveseat or something totally different? For walls, how about a light sage although I heard that is on the way out? One entire wall is windows and the room is very large.

It's frequently recommended that a less apparent color found in an inspirational print be drawn for the walls which btw, should act as a backdrop to your furnishings. Note which of the colors found in the stripe and floral is the least used. Often, it's so subtle, such as in the case of a flower's center, that many overlook it's possibility for their walls. If opting for this minimally found color for your walls, be sure to repeat it via pillows, a stool, a lamp base, a throw, art, etc. around the room to tie everything together.

RE. the new sofa, you're not going to match it to the loveseat identically, so keep w/in a scale and style that best works w/ your existing furniture and spacial restraints. Remember too that matched sets of furniture is too predictable and boring.

Do NOT worry what's deamed IN or OUT by the paint industry. Color trends, like fashion trends or any other design trend, is short lived to encourage sales. Notice how paint stores carry everything from historic colors to bold bright colors? There is something for everyone. Most important, when selecting a wall color, is how it works w/ your flooring, trim, room size, furnishings and the all important LIGHTING CONDITIONS.

Since your room is large and bright, you should not feel too resticted in depth of color. A deep, rich hue that's in contrast yet compliments your furnishings will create a more dramatic and cozy feel. Again...factor in the room's natural and artifical lighting as well as the feel you seek for this space.

I am at a deficit not seeing a picture of the loveseat stripes.
But if this pale sage works, it is inobtrusive and quite lovely
