Attic Bedroom - color suggestions Sign In/Join

Hi Everyone, We are converting our attic to be used for our son's bedroom. Since it is attic space, it will have the sloped ceilings so I want to go with something light and neutralso it doesn't feel like a cave. My son would like to decorate with the color red. The room only has one window that is facing north west. Any suggestions on a neutral that goes well with red?

Thanks for your help!

I picture a red wall on the window wall and a pale khaki on the rest of the walls & ceiling.

timac, I can't think of a neutral that wouldn't work with red - from grey to beige to white to ... That said, many different hues exist within all colors, including red and the neutrals.

Personally, I would approach your situation by selecting a foundation, i.e. a multi-colored rug, bedspread/coverlet/sheet pattern or other fabric(s) for the room. Your son could either be actively involved and/or approve your selection.

Then, I would pull the various main and accent colors from that item. Any paint counter/store employee s/b able to easily match the colors from it.

WRT the paint job itself, I'd stick with the neutral on all walls, all the way up. Otherwise, by stopping the eye with another color, the room's sloped ceilings will be emphasized.

If you return with some specific color options, I'm sure you'll receive many more great suggestions from mb posters.

Only MHO, all of the above.

Good Luck!
