Fireplace, but no mantle Sign In/Join

I am looking for suggestions on decorating a fireplace that has no mantle or hearth for Christmas. The fireplace is an insert in a wall that separates the living room from the dining room and its third side faces the hall that connects them. It is a see through fireplace. The house is more modern than traditional.

Would much appreciate suggestion, particularly URLs to photos if available.

3M Command hooks!!! Those will hold up garland without harming any surface. Just make sure to apply them following the directions and give them a little time to cure before putting garland on them. I don't have a mantel either. I put the Command hooks on the wall far enough above the fire box to eliminate fire danger to the garland.

I second the method of adhering, but would instead recommend these options since your decor is contemporary: Two identical wreaths on both front and back in a glitzy but sleek modern (ex. square) design. Optionally, large framed prints or graphics evoking the holiday subtly in gold and white, bronze and white or silver and white. Tall floor standing cylindrical vases with white, gold or silver lit branches (found in craft stores). Removable holiday wall decals. Do a google for modern options or script verses. Notes: I second the safety caution.
Your holiday trimmings should be neutral or compatible with your furnishings. Keep contrast in mind.
