I started to buy a new food processor in August...then thought about hard I am to buy for. So I told the family that I have joined the greedy and self-centered and created an Amazon wishlist. I sent the link to husband.

He called me into his office with questions about why this? What's this? Oh...Go ahead and order that. The food processor.

I ordered it online. It came in last Friday. I opened the box, washed it, and have used it. Sigh. I should've bought it in August and could've been using it all along.

Oh Sherry, The only kitchen appliance I have ever asked for and accepted as a Christmas gift was a Kitchen Aid stand mixer. Everything else for the kitchen (although might be a convenience for me) is for the family.

Learned that one from my mother. She would have pitched a major you know what kind of fit if she opened a package with a food processor in it. Eek

I always get a chuckle and somewhat annoyed when I see the commercials this time of year and just before Mother's Day expouseing the joys of a new iron (and I don't mean 5 iron) for Mom.

So consider the appliance a new accessory for the kitchen and not a Christmas gift.

I had jewelry on the list too. I'll report back Christmas and let you know if there were any surprises.

Yep...I should've bought the food processor ( a kitchenaid BTW) back in August myself.

I'm not bothered by that in the least. I plan to put a new elec. knife on my Christmas list. If it makes cooking or any task easier or more enjoyable....why not?

If you need something to make life easier on yourself, why should we wait and get it as a gift. Buy it- from me to me, with no guilt. Men are always buying stuff for themselves-new golf clubs, tools,,etc-without waiting for someone to give it to them as a gift.

AMEN! Next time I see something I want...I'm getting it myself! And just because I got a RED food processor, I'm thinking about replacing my white stand mixer with a RED mixer! bwahahahaha - JUST BECAUSE!!!

My kitchen had horrid dark turquoise counter tops when we bought the house so I didn't really decorate. They were replaced a couple of years ago, but I still didn't do anything with it. Now...I'm ready to go RED!

Oh! OH! My mother gave me several of her old aprons. One is white with big RED polka dots. I've been thinking about stretching a "clothes line" between my cabinets across the top of my kitchen window and hanging a couple of aprons on it for a valance. Okay. I'm doing it!

If anyone asks me what I want for Christmas, it's always something made by Cutco or Calphalon. My SIL also loves getting "luxury" kitchen items. I am allergic to metal so I stopped wearing jewelry many years ago. I won't let anybody buy clothing for me--except for nightgowns. I'm too impatient to wait for the next book by my favorite authors. We're not in the tax bracket that can afford to give automobiles as gifts. There really isn't much else, is there? I do, however, remember being dismayed in my twenties when my ex gave me a blender for Christmas. He bought it because HE wanted it, but I kept it when we split. He left with his clothes, his car, and one cast iron pot!

sms, You are hilarious! I think I would've kept the cast iron and let him have the blender!!!

Since I had to order my own present, I thought I should get something that at least one of us would be surprised with. So I ordered a pair of black diamond earrings from the early JC Penney sale! Bwahahaha! Can't wait to pull them out of my stocking Christmas morning!

Update:
I hid the black diamond earrings. Just put them in the jewelry box. Husband gave me a set of star-shaped earrings with regular diamonds so I didn't want to "one-up" him. He hasn't noticed the black set or if he has he probably thinks that they are black crystals.

I bought a bigger-badder RED KA stand mixer a couple/three months ago. Son was wanting one and called to ask me about the price of a second-hand mixer he found. I looked on eBay and told him that he had not found a bargain. But I did. Big Grin Gave my "old" one to my son.
