I post this every year, so that anyone who wants to adopt the tradition can. We read about it in a magazine about 15 years ago.

We have a blank journal book we call the Thanksgiving Book. It lives at my brother and sister in law's house, since that's where we do Thanksgiving dinner.

Everyone who is at dinner is invited to write in the book. It can be anything- for years, my late Dad wrote "Good Grub". Some write what they are thankful for, some comment on the weather or the food or the company. The first year we had the book, my nephews were about 10 and 12, and they wrote how they hated each others team choices. It's so much fun to go back to read the previous years.

It's become a mini history of the family, and it's priceless to us.

What a neat tradition -- I've read of several really good ones which alas, read too late IMO to be used but . . .

Thanksgiving are memories and your book is a wonderful memory of all Thanksgivings especially as there are those who pass and those who come into the family (either by marriage or birth).

I read about someone who had a tablecloth and they asked each guest to write their name on it and then after Thanksgiving she would embroider the written name. Each year a different color.

I thought that was a neat memory as well.

We take a picture -- after the food is on the table but before everyone has dug in. It is fun looking at the changes -- the children growing, etc.

Wonderful tradition!

Nice idea! I remember some folks who had a "house book" that visitors would write in. It was great to go back and remember the people who had come and gone from their home - and lives!
