I was just removing my Christmas lights, and rolled them onto old newspaper rolled into a tube. ho. ho ho. probably already mentioned/

I take the two liter plastic soda bottles, cut a slit in the side, insert one of the plug ends into the slit. Then just wind the cord around the bottle, inserting the other end in the slit as it ends.

But wrapping the lights around anything beats the tangle of an open loop! Wink
