I have two birdfeeders I really have to clean. I should have done it months ago.
I want to do it now, this week! Those who have cleaned their birdfeeders in winter, do you clean outdoors or indoors? I'm thinking about finally bringing them inside and cleaning them in the laundry room sink. (I really wanted to do this outside, but now it's cold).....
Where should I do it? Thanks!!!

Gosh, I think your laundry room sink sounds perfect! (A bit of bleach in the water can help sanitize)
I would be sure to keep a strainer in the trap, so no seeds or other solid stuff go down the drain?

I agree w/Conrad. Be sure to let them dry completely before putting them back out. Don't want to make the birds go ice skating!

If I had to clean one at this time, I would do it inside. I would use a hairdryer to dry it completely before I set it out again.

With the snow we've had the poor birds really have not choice about finding feeders so we're using our back deck rail for the niger seeds and sunflower seeds they go for. Blue Jays, cardinals, juncos, but mostly must be a couple dozen chickadees show up---they even fight over the piles we leave.
The deck is just a couple feet away from a large cedar hedge that they spend the winter in its branches so they flit from there to the rail and back again.

Unfortunately, we also have a couple squirrels that have found the cache and will scare the birds away so they have to be fast.
