Beau's RoseThe hurricanes in 2004 and then in 2005 really did a number on it. The crooked mile of fence.

Beau's RoseFinally, after 28 years of climbing over the fence when needed, a little gate just for me. LOL. The things we do.

Beau's RoseCan you see it? It almost disappears.

Beau's RoseThe gate on the side yard needed to stay on the side due to the slope. But it's 4 feet wide now so easier to get through with the garden cart.
Oh and never plant 6 of anything and expect them to grow evenly.
So now I can add some stepping stones for a walkway and more plants. Finally!

shook29My parents painted their chain-link fence black and you're right, it does make it disappear. Congrats on a job well done!

vera ellenYay for you. What an improvement......and yes, it does disappear. So happy for you...and so what if the gate had to stay in it's original place. At least now it's useable............great planting opportunities!!! Can't wait until next spring to see what beauties you come up with.
Congrats!

Beau's RoseThanks Everyone!
Yes, it will be fun deciding what tree/plants to grow along the fence.
Can you say perimeter plantings?

SSTR (Stop & Smell the Roses)B Rose - I just finished reading your other post requesting perimeter plantings for your back fence then I clicked on this post. Looks like you have a fairly big yard that's not just rectancle like ours are here in Houston. Had to laugh at your comment about never planting 6 of the same shrub and expect them to grow at the same speed - so crazy isn't it, but so true.

SSTR (Stop & Smell the Roses)Your 4th picture here is a great shot of your yard and its potential! The 2 trees are magnificent and your background trees behind the fence are an extra plus. Do you plan a straight planter paralleling the fence or curved? Whatever you decide is going to be very nice. Be sure to post more pictures along the way!! Have fun and enjoy!
