Today we spied mama duck out on the pond with three little ducklings
They must have been hatched in the Japanese Garden because they are still much too young to be able to fly
Mama and Papa duck take turns at looking after them
    Cool eh? Smile

Hey Sam! (poke!Smile) Duckies! I have told my husband that I want to dig up almost the entire back yard and build a huge pond so I can have duckies, he is not on board with the idea, can't figure out why Smile The duckies look very content, obviously you are an excellent landlord.

oh my gosh, they are so sweet. we have a medium sized pond in our backyard and a pair of mallards tried to land in it; we were hysterical! but we have the pond covered with a net because a heron has been stopping for breakfast and we don't want all of the fish to disappear, so the ducks were out of luck. I am told that the heron would eat little ducklings at this time of year
One tried to land whilst mother was out in the middle of the pond with ducklings. She swam about furiously quacking loudly, and it circled and then flew off, thinking it was safer to do so no doubt
The duck and ducklings were absent all day yesterday. Whether mum took them for a walk or not I don't know. Daddy was back for a snooze and some 'ducking' after food
We will have to seee if they return today
I got some great video of mum and the little ones which I will add to my website over the weekend all being well Smile
