I am new with these and need a lil general info/help.My irises have bloomed and died off, do I cut down just the stems that the blooms were on, or do I cut down all the greens?

The green leaves will gather energy for next year's blooms, so it's best not to cut them until they yellow/brown most of the way down. For me, that takes most of the summer, so I try to disguise the leaves with taller flowering plants in front of them.
It was formerly thought that it's OK to cut the leaves into fan-shaped clumps several inches above the soil line after blooming, but now it's thought that diminishes the plant's vigor for the following year. This message has been edited. Last edited by: nettiejay,
