hiya, kiddo!!... there's several causes for that ...it's 'tip burn'.... could be too much sun, too much drying wind, high heat, too much fertilizer, etc.... these guys are sensitive.... here's a whole raft of sites that may give you good info..
We have had a tornado & a lot of high winds including right now! ETA we also lost a Bradford Pear last year that gave it some shade. I am going to read the link you provided. Thanks!
(I bot some wind chimes & I think I have jinxed myself. The wind hasn't stopped since I hung them up)

yep... tornado touched down right down the road last night here... I slept right thru it all.....
no fertilizer for the lawn nearby either?... sometimes folks forget that.....if a tree came down that was it's late afternoon shade, that's what I'd think was the cause... big sudden change.... if that's it, it will eventually get used to it unless it's one of the maples that REQUIRES that afternnon shade.....my Garnet is the one that fried at my house... but since the big tree nearby got taller and shades it now, it's a lot better.... see if your second growth, later in summer doesn't fare better.....
