That zebrina is beautiful. Does it bloom all summer?
Your baskets will be pretty when they fill in. I'm waiting on mine too.

They will look pretty until the beetles arrive & then they get eaten to bits so will cut down but will save seeds birdie! I have a mix...some Mgt sent me & also bought some really dark purple ones (seeds I started) Magic Merlin. They have been posted here many times but this year growing in my new daylily compost they got giant! So nice splash of purple by the patio & long blooming.

What have you been feeding those zebrinas???
Cute pics! How many baby wrens are there? I'm surprised the parents let you get that close!

I never tried those type of baskets. Did you line them with plastic to keep them from drying out?
Looks pretty.

Hi J~ They are in rich soil so you can see what a difference good soil makes!

I was wondering myself about how many babies are crammed in that old bird house! i hung out a brand new house & they build the nest in that old thing! When the mom shows up they all jump all over each other with open mouths. So darling! When I moved my chair closer the parents didn't show up for a very long time & then my battery died! LOL

Basket~ Wanted to try something different & saw this idea in a magazine so see what happens! Just an experiment. (so far so good but worry about the really HOT weather)

Your zebrina is amazing! I had one 2 years ago that the birds must have brought but it only grew to about 12" tall and never returned. It did flower and they are so pretty. I had to look it up now and Perennials says 24-47" tall. Yours look taller than that. They are not hardy in my zone unfortunately.

That triple basket will be glorious when filled out.

The little birdie is so cute - and hungry!

Pretty - is that the same as a hollyhock? I was thinking malva was hollyhock.

Love the birdie.......you get the best shots. I've been trying to get a picture of some baby wrens......so far no luck.

Wow, Muddy. My zebrinas aren't going to get THAT tall. Big Grin They'll get about 3 feet tall, tho. I got my first one as a bird gift & they reseed & come up every year...always in a little bit different spot.

Love your wren. Love all your pics. Smile

Wow those are some tall plants! I had some years ago but they disappeared. Yours are giants. Love the baby wrens, their mama must be busy feeding those hungry mouths! The triple planter is a good idea, I'm sure you will soon have flowers spilling over the edges.

My zebrinas had all disappeared, what I thought were the zebrinas were Lavatera...they came from the back garden to the front. But, today, I found a zebrina out in the compost ditch...gonna save those seeds & re-plant in the front. They aren't nearly as invasive as the Lavatera...which, by the way are also from the same hollyhock family.
