on the net. I bought one at Walmart the other day & it doesn't have a name on the tag...just daylily! So I went looking to see if I could find one like it. What I found is FANTASTIC!!!! http://smokeysdaylilygardens.com/new.php Be sure to explore the whole site. They have a $1 per fan sale, there are group sales- like all red, etc. and they have more lilies than I think I have ever seen! Mine looks a lot like Aunt Leone that I found in the recently new group. I paid $4.44 & there are 6 fans in the pot! "The soil is the source of life, creativity, culture and real independence." i'm drooling here... and looking around to see where else i can put more daylilies. next fall, of course. i have to wait and see how my newbies do first. but i will bookmark that site. thanks for sharing it.

I have some daylilies in my cart for this fall too. But I'd rather get them at the store if I could find them. Must check Walmart.
|
Wow, what great prices. Bet there are some beauties.
|
Some beautiful daylilys for sure. Don't think I got through the whole site, didn't see any for $1 a fan, will have to check again tomorrow after some sleep. There are no gardening mistakes, only experiments. Janet Kilburn Phillips

Nice site. Just for grins, I looked up my "Starburst" there. The color in that photo is spot on, exactly like the color that my own photo and blooms are. I wonder if that means their photography is more accurate than others I've seen. Would sure help in knowing exactly what you'll get in an order. Bana, I also looked up "Dixie Chick" there to check its color. They don't seem to carry it.

WOW, you done good, girl.
|
Karen, I looked at that link and the flowers are gorgeous! How many do you get for the price? The very first one said $99.00...is that for one? ~Jean~ in garden zone 6b

Brownthumb, I believe to get to the dollar ones, you go to "sales" on the left and then they have 25 fans for $25.
|
ga.karen ~ i couldn't find Aunt Leone, not even when i put her name in the search bar. so, you have to buy 25 fans? of the same variety? if not, color me dumb for seeing it that way. nettiejay.. i saw yours. it is absolutely gorgeous. none of mine were in that site.

This is really wierd!!! I placed an order, it went through, but when they sent me confirmation I was only charged SHIPPING!!! I sent them an email about it and they sent me another receipt for SHIPPING!!! I sent them another email and asked them why they kept sending me a shipping bill(which is also wrong). What happened to my order? I'm getting There are no gardening mistakes, only experiments. Janet Kilburn Phillips

I think for those fancy ones you get 2 fans, but that $99 one is SUCH an unusual one and I have never seen a color like that before in any day lily! Bana, Aunt Leona was in that group of new or recent ones...but mine also looks a lot like Patsy Carpenter. They are really close! And the one I got at Walmart is TALL! About 3' tall! BT, I haven't ordered anything from them but watch your CC bill to make sure you don't get double charged for anything!!! And let us know how it all turns out too! I just couldn't believe how many different ones they had and other sites I had visited were out of half or more of their stock...this one wasn't! I put it in my favorites for future reference too. I'm going to have some empty spaces but got to get a lot moved around this year first! "The soil is the source of life, creativity, culture and real independence." David Ben-Gurion

So she is going to refund the shipping costs and then she took my order. Shweeeeewu There are no gardening mistakes, only experiments. Janet Kilburn Phillips

I'm curious so I gotta ask.... Why are ya'll shopping for day lilies now to plant in the fall, instead of buying them in the early spring to plant this year? If you pass the springtime and want to plant something, (say day lilies) you have to wait to plant it in the fall? (I didn't know that!)This message has been edited. Wavie, I don't! I move day lilies any time after they have bloomed if they are big enough to bloom. I've never had a problem. Course, I don't do a lot of things like the "experts" say we should either! If they are small ones I plant them any time the ground can be worked. Besides, now is the time to find the bargins of marked down "spring" flowers! "The soil is the source of life, creativity, culture and real independence." David Ben-Gurion

I plant daylilies all through the summer, but I usually don't have them shipped in the heat of the summer. I plant the ones I get locally now. If I am ordering from Florida for instance, I'll wait until Sept. and then order and plant them since they still gives them time to get settled.
|
Wavie, For me, I could plant them now but I don't want to worry about them dying in the heat so I will wait till fall. Unless I find them potted somewhere locally and already in bloom, I might as well wait because those little bare root fans aren't going to bloom anyway and I'll have to worry about watering them. I found this out last year when I ordered a bunch in the summer and not all of them survived. This message has been edited. Last edited by: theoriginalfluffy,

I got my order today. Because of all the confusion I went thru with them they sent me 2 extra plants...I ordered 5 of the missing tag...they sent 6, and the bonus one is called Siloam Baby talk, I just looked at the picture ...it is soooo pretty. Loving this thread....gotta ask WHICH kind of lily has the most wonderful fragrance? Oriental? Asiatic? Day? I have one that is so wonderful but no tag....most of mine don't have the fragrance but they don't have tags either...not sure what happened to them
|
ladeuce.. i have oriental lilies but unfortunately did not keep track of their names. the ones that look like star gazer lilies, or rhubrums, have the most wonderful fragrance. i keep a cut bloom in the kitchen for days to enjoy the fragrance. i also have orange ones with no fragrance. if you are getting bulbs, read the package to see if fragrance is an attribute.
|
me again.. found my list but there are not specific variety names. 1. White Tiger (Hardy) 40” high Summer Blooms 2. Oriental Mixture 36” – 48” Summer blooms Fragrant 3. Oriental 32” – 44” Summer blooms Fragrant
