Since I'm new here, just wondering if anyone is here from Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma area? Wondering what the conditions are. We're expecting snow tonight. Other than snow during the morning rush hour, the snow is a welcome thing. Any type of moisture in our area will be great.

St. Louis here. It's not so bad now. Maybe 3" on the ground. The wind is moving it around so much, hard to tell for sure. The weatherpeople always seem to over exaggerate their forecasts here. Only time will tell. For garden purposes alone, I would love as much as a foot of snow. We're way behind in rainfall for the past year or longer and really could use it. No ice though! Hate the ice.

SE Nebraska. We might have 3" on the ground, windy here too. The storm is to continue into the night, but the earlier prediction of 11-12 inches is now 6-9. I would almost rather have double that in snow, rather than freezing rain/ice some are getting. Usually works out the more they hype the storms, the less severe they are. As nettiejay said, any moisture is very welcome.

I think I may have missed your other posts, so WELCOME to the boards. As you can see, I'm in Ga., close to Fl. but I grew up around Decatur, Ill. & still have LOTS of relatives there as well as scattered around the US. You don't want to hear our conditions But we are just slowly coming out of several years of drought here. We still haven't replenished the resivors and many farm ponds are still down at least 5' & some more...lakes in the area the same. So even though I don't like the gloomy weather that goes with the rain...we will take it to get the moisture! "The soil is the source of life, creativity, culture and real independence." KOW, a friends mother lives in Derby, Kansas...per our email last night, her mother had 19 inches of snow and counting! Man, that's a lotta snow! ve
|
We ended up with a total of about 7 inches. And it was nice (not wet/heavy snow), thank goodness. Kansas sure got a bunch. Hard to deal with a lot of snow in a place like Kansas City, where does anyone pile it???
|
We ended up with maybe 3-4"... Except for the 14" at the end of the driveway that the snowplow deposited there on its way around the cul de sac. The freezing rain they predicted didn't happen.

Looks like it was a "bust" for most of us. The poor Kansas people though. Oh well, this is the last weekend of meteorological winter. I'm going to start looking for my Spring bulbs to start peeking out. Ooops, after the 3-4 inches of snow melt. P.S. Thanks for the welcome Karen. Don't you miss this snow stuff?

In a word...NO! We used to live on a country oil road that wasn't much wider than a one lane road...and it drifted shut every time we got a few inches. Last year we were there they had to bring in an end loader (bulldozer w/bucket) and a dump truck to haul it all away. Some smart aleck guys were going down the road right after it quit snowing/drifting on their snow mobiles...one disapeared in front of an old garage on our property. There was a hole in the drift there about 7' deep, he was just a little stuck! That old garage was originally built for a Model A or Model T vehicle...couldn't get one of today's vehicles into it, but it was super for storage! se mi, and we got about 3" this am..and it quit...sort of foggy when we went to the bank and shopping around 4pm...thanks be no large accidents like the past couple of weeks!
|
In our part of southeast Kansas we got 7-8 inches of snow on Thursday and are expecting up to another foot tomorrow and Tuesday. We haven't had any snow to speak of for 2 years and really need the moisture in a bad way, so this is actually considered a mixed blessing for us.

Who knew? Here we go again. Looks like March will come in like a lion. I hope my little daffs and tulips are growing under this white stuff.
|
Here in Central northern Missouri and we are just waiting for the second round. We are supposed to get 8-12 inches.
|
In case you didn't see my thread to FFG...we are about to drown down here...10 1/2" of rain since Fri. afternoon...and more coming tomorrow. Ya'al stay warm up there! "The soil is the source of life, creativity, culture and real independence." David Ben-Gurion
