Any idea why the lower parts of the leaves are browning? Is it from too much water?

Some of my plants are doing this too and I don't know why. I thought brown meant not enough water and yellow was too much?

Anyone?????

My day lilies are brown & just plain fried~~ cooked in the hot sun even tho I water regularly.Today I had to shade several beds with big beach umbrellas! New look for my garden! I used to just cover for frost & now cover for hot baking sunshine!

Mine are fried too Muddy, and I don't have any beach umbrellas. Everything here is fried...so in my case, the yellowing would be too little water...and extreme heat. My veggie garden is suffering as well, beans gone...just yellowed up and went away. Trying to keep the maters and cukes alive by watering. We have been officially declared severe drought status. A repeat now for the past few years. Our temps are to exceed 100 with the heat indices to be between 108 & 110 through Monday. Sigh.

Asters & Veronicas are pretty drought tolerant to an extent. So in Minnesota, you might be giving them too much to drink.

We had some really good rains in late spring. Then, I planted new plants on the slope and watered them often. Since these guys are towards the bottom, they probably did get a little water logged. Poor babies. Red Face
I guess I can ease up... Razz

Hey muddyshoes...would love to see what plants look like under umbrellas! That cracks me up.

BTW, we had some 30-40 mph winds last week. I found our table umbrella laying upright on the side of our house. I thought someone had stolen it. I still can't believe it blew all the way off the deck, down to the ground, up a hill and around a corner. But, there it laid!
